Wineberserkers posts have consequences! Fallout trickles int

Please read the thread title in your most mom-ish voice coupled with the mental image of a wagging index finger.

Having seen quite a few posts here talking about how a post they made resulted in being dropped from mailing lists, etc., I wanted to toss my story on the pile. It seems the recent Vinopolis thread got me dropped from their weekly mailing list. Unless the weekly email just hasn’t been put out for 2-3 weeks now, I can safely say that my critical posts cost me the illustrious opportunity of being able to spend money there.

How bout trying to actually take a count of how many people have been “punished” in the real world for something posted here. I know there’s already a bunch of threads for the stories behind such “punishments,” but how bout just getting a count?

Pretty amazing as your critique was relatively mild. I am still on the list despite my similar criticisms.

Bump.

I have my suspicions about one producer “retaliating” against me, but would prefer to keep my lips sealed for an additional year just to make sure. PM me if you want to know.

Where are the other examples of retaliation?

I was beaten and stoned by “the who’s who” of the cult wineries.

I’ve gotten a couple mailings the past few weeks. Based on the feedback of the board and Dan’s response, I had planned on giving them another chance and am watching for something to tempt me, they have a bunch of Huet that has been coming close.

Well what do you expect when you create an entire offline around XXXXX vs. The Field, and proclaim The Field won… deadhorse

Especially when he was wrong. [stirthepothal.gif]

I actually kinda wish more folks would make me persona non grata. Save me from myself. My wallet would thank them. [cheers.gif]

The one I remember was the Brewer-Clifton affair … which was confirmed by B-C.

LOL! No, wasn’t Saxum, but then again, I’m not on Saxum’s list (nor do I really want to be)

Me too. Large allocation was slashed several years ago (after 6 or 7 years on list shut out of all but tiny white allocation) following some comments on other board about whether they had peaked or not. Comments were not critical (wasn’t about them or the wines’ quality), just an opinion on the market. I inquired as to reason and was told by the “messenger” that it was his own determination. Removed myself from the list.

This does occur. I have it from a winery club admin person to my ears.

Happened to me with Futo.

I think Drouhin saw me post that their wines are geat values and then all of a sudden they went through the roof for the 2005 vintage and have never looked back. I blame myself :frowning:

I guess the conventional wisdom of Hollywood that i do not care what you say about me as long as you spell my name correctly, does not apply to the wine industry.

I guess I don’t see what the issue is.

We all want to talk about free markets and IF this is indeed the case with you being ‘kicked off’ their list then isn’t it the right of the proprietor to do this?
‘No shirt, no shoes, no service…’

IF this is what happened, then you openly aired your dismay and so have they.
Move on.

Scarecrow appears to have dropped me. I was in the first wave last time, nothing in the mail this time (so far).

Also, my one time criticism of a former darling of this board (despite a number of other positive postings by me on his wines) got back to the winemaker, who I shared mutual friends with. Awkwardness all around. Really made me think twice before posting harsh TNs.

Isn’t that a regular Saturday night for you?
