WineBerserkers 3rd Annual BURGUNDY APPELLATION WEEKLY TASTING SERIES....STARTS MARCH 31st

Hello everyone,
we are a few weeks away from the start of Part three of our WineBerserkers Burgundy Appellation Weekly Tasting Series. I will be making some adjustments to the schedule below as well as some of the formatting of each week’s post. If there are ideas/comments that you could share, I’d love to hear them. One thing that I will make sure to follow through on is a lot more photos and potentially some videos taken inside of vineyards. We will start around March 31st to get an early jump on Week 1, with following weeks posted each Monday (or Tuesday if things get tight). Keep in mind that the details of the schedule were copied from last year’s series but there will be some fine editing momentarily.

Thank you again for your contributions!

Cheers

Yesssss

Looking forward to this!

We need to get a lot more history in as well. Suggested drinking windows, oldest bottles tasted from some of the climats, photos of bottles, stories about visits to Burgundy, etc.
Also, we may fit in both Chablis as well as Cru Beaujolais for the last two weeks…depending on interest

Just to mix things up, why dont we consider going south to north this time?

Could this be moved up near the top of the forum and stabilized there for future reference?

I’m on board with mixing it up a bit. We can move from South to North, ending with Chablis. I will rework the schedule tomorrow.

holy crap [wow.gif]

Thanks Ray

Macon is the forgotten stepchild on this board. I wonder why that is. I don’t know if there is enough interest to include in the series??

It might be one of those things where we have a shared week to ensure that we have a steady pulse to it. Would something like this fit in a Mashup week, or do you think we could drum up enough interest to give it a week after Beaujolais and Chablis have their turns?

My pleasure, Scott. I’m excited as well.

Cheers

Ray, I’m absolutely not going to get into the question of whether Beaujolais is part of Burgundy (its not), but Macon and Cote Chalonnaise definitely are. And Chablis. And Cote d’Or. There are some very good white wines grown in the Macon, and I could learn a lot from a discussion. I have not decided, however, whether my vow to not buy any white Burg applies to this area. Logic would say my vow applies. But being France, and being Burgundy, there are certain exceptions…

Hey Lew,
I’m with you. Beaujolais isn’t what I think of when thinking ‘Burgundy’. But, when I think of ‘Burgundy’, I am thinking ‘La Côte d’Or’. When I think of ‘wine’, I’m thinking of ‘La Côte d’Or’ as well. So…

But, I’ll leave others to say where Burgundy is and isn’t. I’m open to researching, learning and sharing about all of these areas. But, my contribution to a thread on Mâcon would be limited to what I would research prior to posting. Also, you know how I am with white wines.

Here’s a good reason to leave it as is. would we not get more response on the whites if they came closer to summer ?

oops - I did Morey St Denis saturday night.

this was my thinking. I think now is a good time for reds and whites being more of focus in a a few months places them in a sweet spot of sorts. I’m open either way, but personally have more interests in whites being focused on in warmer months.

Thanks Ray. Looks like someone has found a way of organizing me getting drunk.

Look forward to it Ray…good work!
