I wish I were kidding!
Rainoldi 2006 Rosso di Valtellina
Aromas of second-hand Winston cigarettes at first. Now it is turning into ganja (not that I would know anything about that).
Flavors of dried cherries and lingonberries keep the wine interesting, but the smell of ciggy smoke is almost too much.
Hilarious!
Doesn’t sound very appealing.
I wonder if that’s what smoke taint does? Maybe there were fires around the vineyard?
I have no idea what it was but I had a sales rep pour a white that to me smelled exactly like fresh ganja… too weird.
Doesn’t sound appealing…in any form.
Carried an older vintage of Terre Nere that smelled just like “ashtray.” Regulars still talk about that bar tasting 3 years later. Nerello Mascalese grown in volcanic soil, ash, not too far fetched.
Cayuse!

I’ve noticed that before but not overwhelmingly. Odd thing.
