A friend of ours invited us to come to his house on the sea side to try some wines (ours were included) and enjoy some tapas!
There were a number of wines, don’t know much about them, except our Nolados 2005 and one made by the mayor of El Ejido, Juan Enciso. The only things I can tell you about his wines is that he owns a vineyard outside and above a little village in the Alpujarra of Almeria called Bayarcal, at and elevation of 1800 meters (5,900 ft) composed of Pinot Noir and Tempranillo. We tried the PN and it was delicious, a little lacking on the nose initially but opened up nicely afterwards. We also had a beautiful Chardonnay 2008 that he had aged in French oak for 5 months. Nice. Since the Nolados is my wine and others here on the BB have written nice things, I will defer to their notes.
The dinner (tapas) was Morcilla, Chorizo, Panceta (thick bacon) and Ribs. Bread, Olives and dessert of Melon sprinkled with brown sugar, and Spanish Pastries (Glaciados) Merengue and Juan Enciso’s homemade Pacheran (orujo with endrinas - sloe berries and sugar).
