I am going to be down in Atlanta for a few days in mid-august for a conference (staying downtown) and was curious to know if there are any wine stores in that general downtown area or if there are any that might be convenient to get to. Thanks in advance!
Downtown you have limited choices.
The best are not too far however.
Le Caveau in Chamblee
pH wines in Buckhead
Atlantic Wines in Buckhead
Cellar 13 in Buckhead.
These have interesting choices and great folks.
Lots more choices if you desire. Most however are in Buckhead or Brookhaven area.
Perrine’s is pretty good - more of an old world focus, but smaller selection. That’s a bit closer to downtown.
Also, and bizarrely, the Kroger on Monroe Drive has a huge selection of domestic producers - from Littorai to Continuum.
I enthusiastically agree with Don’s recommendations. Tower is another place that isn’t too far away. I haven’t been there in years, but they historically got a lot of good wines [snarky comment self-censored].
You might want to check out Highland Wine in Virginia Highlands. Nick used to be at Murphy’s and has a good palate and selection- both new and old world.
Mac’s Midtown. Walking distance from anywhere downtown. Good selection. Pick up a bottle, suck it down on the way to Empire State South. Enjoy.
