That’s funny, one of my best buys was same exact wine… 2 bottles, haven’t touched… Maybe something we don’t know
1983 Yquem. $200 in the Parking Lot at Meadowlands Stadium from a guy who had bought some random stuff when his neighbor died and had just poured me about 8 ounces of his 1982 La Mission after yelling at me that my one ounce pour was inadequate. I could have gotten it for less, but I wanted to be fair so I gave him all the cash I had.
Great bottle, by the way.
This has a lot to do with your age - anyone who purchased 1982 Bordeaux futures can attest to that -
1982 LAFITE ROTHSCHILD - $33.00
1982 PICHON LALANDE $8.33Get my drift?
And for the guys that are older than me - they had the incredible 60s where they purchased 1961 Latour for three dollars a bottle -
A fun exercise though -
I did get some 1966 Clos Fourtet for I think $6 in 1978. I still have a bottle or two.
Back in the mid-1990’s. The class 6 store at Ramstein Airbase in Germany was off loading 1990 Dom for $28 per.
Early in this century, I recall a table pounding Black Friday deal on Jade Mountain wines. My first on-line order of more than a case, I wish I had purchased more.
