Thanks for the vindication tag. Happy to see it receive recognition.

It’s a very 2007 top ten list.

So much for new and exciting. No whites (xc Crystal), No pinots. QC has been on the list multiple times as has Antinori. And always a CdP from a big house. They gave higher scores to many wines with similar case production and lower pricing.

Thanks and great meeting you that day. It was an awesome event Brian hosted and a great way to celebrate the topping off of his cellar project we all enjoyed watching

Hard to believe with all the wines half the price of Quilceda Creek from Washington that they are never on in the top 10.

#3 was a Hyde Chardonnay. I never understand the pearl clutching outrage with the list. We all know taste is a subjective thing. It’s merely a list of very good, well made wines they’ve chosen to highlight

Great top ten list. I always look forward to WS’s Top 100. Always discover something new and am reminded of producers I haven’t tasted for a while. I’ll need to grab some Quilceda Creek. It’s been a few years. Can’t wait to see the full list.

I’m surprised SBC got snubbed entirely from the top 100. Not a single wine. I’m guessing the 2020s can make next years list? I would have though Tensley CC would have been somewhere near the top along with a handful of others that got great press.

That is fine then we can enjoy a good wine and not worry about it selling out as fast.

Quilceda Creek is on that list almost every 3 years. How about having some new producers on that top 10. Same rotating list over the years.

Or 2010, 14 what ever else. I get these are all good wines (most of them anyway) but get some variety please.

Yeah, but if you’ve got it, you’ve got it.

I will drink 5 Result of a Crush 2019 Merlot/Cab blends any day over 1 Quilceda. More balanced and better use of oak on the wines.

And that’s your choice. But what’s the case production on the Result of a Crush? There’s an availability component of the WS list.

Okay? Um. Congratulations?

David,

There’s at least one wine on that list - a canned wine from SLO County - that is only 410 cases . . .

Cheers

Does every region need to be mentioned every single vintage? I don’t see Michigan throwing a fit over here.

I was specifically referring to John’s takedown of the Quilceda selection.

That said, I suspect the canned wine is a nod to novelty and perhaps looking for emerging trends.

And availability is an element.

Sao,

No, not every region needs to be mentioned each vintage . . . but it does seem unusual that a region like Santa Barbara County has zero mentions, and Paso has just one.

Were the ones of ‘lesser quality’ than in the past? I would venture to say that they weren’t . . .

Cheers.
