Wine shops in Nashville

Anyone have a recommendation for a good wine shop in Nashville (or the general area)? We’re coming to town and going to a friend’s party, and would like to bring a nice bottle or two. I don’t really want to deal with trying to pack something in our luggage (do Tennessee’s draconian liquor laws even allow that?), so I’d like to find a trustworthy local store to pick something up. We’re staying near Vanderbilt, but we’ll have a car, so we can get around if there’s something worth driving for.

Go to Village Wine and talk to Hoyt.

Green Hills Wine Shop(pe). While nothing in terms of fermented grape juice is cheap, at least these guys have a decent selection. I have been to the shop and I see it as a quality operation. Worth a visit. Most guys know their stuff, though Frenchman (I think, Jeff) is the celebrity there. http://www.getfinewine.com/

If you’re flying SouthWest, pack a shipper and bring it with you.

Jason has already given you the best advice you’ll get in a long time.

Go see Hoyt Hill at Village Liquors. He’s right next to
Vanderbilt.

Thanks all!

Dude, get it right!

‘Thanks, y’all!’

Oh by the way, you would have no problem if you decide to pack your wine. I just hate checking luggage.

There is also a big wine store on Church St. … called Midtown or something. They do have a large selection but more of a bevmo vibe.

It depends on what type of wine you are looking for - old world, aged or Burgundy -go see Hoyt. If you are just looking for a large selection of domestics - go to any of the large wine stores - Grand Cru, MidTown, Frugal McDougal (be careful here - lots of distributor close outs that have been damaged…). Green Hills wine Shoppe is nice as well - because they actually know their wines and know what will work/not work with your plans… Plus if they don’t have something - they’ll send you to someone else…

Nice to have the nod on Green Hills Wine Shoppe, thank you. Frugal McDougal also struck me as a close out maven which could have been damaged possibly along the way.

I second (third/fourth?) Hoyt at Village Wines.
