Wine Shops in Firenze

Anyone know of any hidden gem wine shops in Firenze (Florence), Italy. Value wines at the low to mid price range are important as it’s for my daughter who is spending a semester abroad. Although she’s rather fond of high end Burgundy and Chateau d’Yquem from good vintages, her father has philosophical and financial objections to her living higher on the hog than he does at her tender young age!

Mike, your daughter sounds just like my step daughter - it’s our own fault for bringing them up to appreciate fine living!

Anyway, tell your daughter to be careful with a lot of stores in Florence, they can be astronomically expensive - remember they’re after the tourists. When I was last thereI didn’t have time for wine browsing but my suggestion is for her to gain local knowledge and I’m sure there’ll be a wine shop tucked away somewhere that’s not too crazily priced. Mike,
There are lots of student blogs on enotecas. Here is one that seems to be really popular. If she wants to spend Dad’s money on better wine however, Volpi E l’uva is the place to go.
Cheers.

Probably the best place in the historical centre where you can drink a good wine for a fair price! This wine bar is very very small (6-8 square meters…) so you are obliged to drink directly in the nice street in front of the bar (no cars pass…).
This wine here is excellent and their ‘panini’ are fabulous! We definitely suggest you this place!

Mike,

Lots of wine available in town and I’m sure there are students who know where to find cheaper bargains. This place is outside of town to the south near the highway and prices seem lower for that reason:

Vinoteca Al Chianti
Stazione Leopolda
Via Cassia 2 (angolo Via di Colleramole)
50029 Bottai
Firenze Certosa

Big selection available at Enoteca Alessi but being near the Duomo, the prices may not be the most competitive. Fuori Porta in Oltrarno is worth a look.

Enoteca Pointe Vecchio was a fabulous experience. With outstanding olive oil and balsamic to enhance the experience, Tony Sasa is a great host with many very very good local wines at very reasonable prices less than 50euro.

Hello
I’m Daniel from Spain, the region of La Rioja, my English is bad enough, the translation is from google, I wanted to understand that you are paying 50 €, why box or bottle?
