Wine shop recommendations in Baltimore or Bethesda MD?

Calvert Woodley is great if you are looking for imperials of Yquem, but generally speaking expensive for what they have. (Selection is VERY well curated and the long time staff is very knowledgeable.)

I have found the prices at CW to be very competitive with other DC wine shops - not cheap compared to places in other states, perhaps, but comparable to MacArthur and others around. (The sales make things a lot better, though).

CW may have some good deals, but it really seems to depend on the particular wine. They were charging about $20 more per bottle for a Weinbach riesling I was looking for than MacArthur’s, so it pays to check around.

And +1 to MacArthur’s.

Because of problems with one of the hotels (fire closed it for a couple of days) and sick child, didn’t get to do all the store visits I wanted to. The only store I did get to visit was Bin 604. I was surprised to see all bottles stored vertically and some of the better choices (Heitz Martha’s IIRC?) stored so high up to be inaccessible and without prices visible. It was time to leave when an associate recommended a wine with nice acidity to a customer standing next to me. Turned out to be a Mollydooker.
