Heading back in a couple days. What would you pick?
No idea, but love “winePad”. Amazing.
Impossible to pick a wine from this list without knowing your budget. I would just pick something from a great producer in a great year like 71 or 76. If you want to gamble go for a great year, great vineyard from an unknown producer and hope it works out. I ordered a 76 Marienburg Punderich Auslese thinking it was Clemens Busch as the name was very close. It was a different producer. It turned out to be very good. There are also lots of bottles with vineyard names that no longer exist that are fun to try. I would say the majority of the wines I have had from this cellar have been excellent at all price points.
The one time I was there a couple of years ago we did the “weinwand” dinner — their tasting menu with pairing. It was very affordable and the wines were a blast.
If I’m understanding the online menu correctly, it looks like the menu with rarities pairing is 98 euros.
These were some of the wines they poured. The unlabeled one the waiter claimed was a total mystery to them, which could have been a gimmick for the tourist, but I was into the gimmick if it was.
No notes recalled, but lots of fun to drink 40 year old rieslings for a relative pittance.
