Wine hunter: Patty Green 2-pack $50 delivered

On my visit I thought the Old Vine was terrific but we didn’t taste the regular Estate.

My note:

Estate Old Vine Vineyard Ribbon Ridge 07. Another terrific medium weight wine. Perhaps more earth than the Whistling Ridge with lovely Asian spice. Some tannin remains and improvement is likely. A- with potential.

But don’t trust me, Tanzer loved it too.

A holiday two-pack of Pinot Noir. What we are offering is a bottle each of the 2007 Estate Pinot Noir and the 2007 Estate Old Vine Pinot Noir. Each bottle is signed by the owners, comes with descriptive tasting notes and, if need be, a greeting card as well.

This is what the International Wine Cellar had to say about these two wines:

2007 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Ribbon Ridge 89(+?) Medium red. Cherry, flowers and earth on the nose. Youthfully subdued red berry and cherry flavors are firmed by dusty tannins and pick up a gentle spiciness with air. Bitter cherry skin and anise qualities define the finish, which is a touch clenched right now.

2007 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Old Vine Ribbon Ridge 91 Bright red. Dark berries, cherry, rose and graphite on the nose. Mineral-laced cherry and black raspberry flavors are impressively precise, gaining a pleasant edge of bitter cherry skin with air. The minerality lingers on the persistent finish, adding cut to the cherry and dried rose flavors. This is balanced to age.

These wine normally retail at $36 and $40 respectively.

From now through the end of the year we are offering this two-pack for $50! This includes UPS ground shipping

Insane price. If I didn’t have two cases of '07 PG’s in my cellar, I’d be jumping.

I agree with the tasting notes presented by Jim and Patty. The Estate was wound up tight, and was pretty cold in the winery when tasted, but it had all of the pieces to become something very nice with some age. I really enjoyed the Old Vine. It wqas full and layered with great structure and complexity. $50 delivered sounds like a deal. The 08’s across the board at PG were very good to outstanding, though brutally young. The Whisling Ridge was also gorgeous, and showing the best, to me, of the sedimentary series.

I’ve already got two cases too. Wimp. neener

Oh FYI, their web store refuses to give you the free shipping - tech issues. What I did was use will call on the shipping option (free of course) and then called them to have it shipped. They said the orders were coming in fast and furious.
