great write up Sanjay, many thanks.
I was happy, but very surprised, to see the 99ās show so well. Mine are still locked up tight, as are most GCās from that vintage. My experiences with 05 are not dissimilar, still pretty tight.
Were the wines decanted prior, and if so, for how long?
Also great to see the Potel do well, the modern vintages have not been so good generally. These are freely available to me, I will seek one out and try for myself!!!
The ones from my cellar were opened at 4 pm just to get a small taste to ensure they were sound (i.e. not corked, no TCA). They were not decanted.
These were:
1999 Dujac CdlR
2005 Potel CdlR
2005 Jadot CdlR
2005 Jadot CSD
2006 Dujac CdlR
2010 Rousseau CdlR
The 1999 Jadot CSD and 2006 Dujac CSD from my friends cellar were opened in a similar fashion at 6 pm. My friends cellar is maintained at 12C
The remainder were opened at the restaurant between 7-7.30 pm.
The White Burgundies were opened in the restaurant at 6.30 pm.
The Vintage Port was opened in my house at 4 pm and decanted in to another bottle to check it and remove sediment.
