I’m doing some independent research on how retailers, producers, importers, distributors, consultants use wine-specific data and am hoping some folks chime in here. From my time working retail, we leveraged the available data (via QB Point of Sale) when making business decisions (i.e. what wines to bring in, what pricing has been successful, offering our best clients preferred pricing, etc) far less than we probably should have and it got me thinking…
What kind of data do you use when making business decisions? Also, are there specific types of data that you’d love to see but can’t find it?
For background, I come from the healthcare informatics consulting field. I usually spend my days trying to understand how healthcare professionals use data…so i’m curious about how the wine industry is using (or not using) data these days.
