"Wine and Dine" For Laura's House In The OC--May 30th

My local charity here in the OC, Laura’s House (http://www.laurashouse.org/), is having another cool fund raising event coming up. Many of you know Laura’s House through either reading it about here on the board, many of you locally having attended my annual fund raising event for the charity here at my house, one we call Falltacular. This past February we had our best Falltacular yet, raising $20,000 through your generosity, as well as that of the winemakers who both send wine and attend in person.

This next event, what we call Wine and Dine, is being held again this year in Newport Beach at Big Canyon CC, across from Fashion Island. Where our Falltacular event and Wine and Dine intersect is through wine, the leftover unopened bottles from Falltacular that we re-purpose for Wine and Dine. If you open this link, you will see many familar names being poured… Dropbox - Error When the link opens, it will alert you about security. Just proceed with allowing your computer to access the file.

In addition, this year we will be having a "blind tasting’ table where we will help the crowd (it’s not geeky or wine crazed like our Falltacular group) understand some of the key nuances of wine. One instance will be the idea of pouring the Apsara syrah (thank you, Robin, for sending your wines down), putting side by side the whole cluster and destemmed syrahs and asking the crowd to tell us how they see the differences. It’s a small idea to get people engaged around wine, beyond that of simply being swayed by or led by a score or critic.

And, I will have a # of unopened Falltacular wines being auctioned. Our silent auction will also feature Falltacular wines from Loring, Lucia, Wind Gap, Tercero, Dunstan, Copain, Clos Pepe, Point Concepcio, Riverain and Poe.

There will be some light live music, and then food prepared by the chef at Big Canyon. The cost is $95 and all of the proceeds will funnel back to Laura’s House.

If you would like to attend, please contact Laura’s House or myself for ticket info. I will be pouring at the event, as will fellow Berserkers Sean Kennedy and Brig Campbell. Further, if you would like to donate wine to the silent auction, I’d be happy to take it and make sure it raises somke money and finds a good home!

I appreciate you stopping to read my post and your generosity of your time.

I don’t short pour either! Say when. [cheers.gif]
