Wine and cigars

Im sure this thread has been done but never hurts to have a new one

I know a lot of people will hate the idea so for those people please just smile inwardly at us idiots and let us have our fun please.

What wines do u like with cigars ?

For a light Dominican cigar, maybe a conneticut wrapper etc I would go with a Chardonnay or Sauvignon blanc

For a medium bodied cigar, Ashton, Fuente, Nubs etc then I would go with a nice Pinot or even a rose

With a full bodied cigar like a Davidoff, Padron or Cuban then I prefer the bold syrah or strangely the pairing of a Cohiba Siglo 6 or Behike with a great champagne is magical

Dark, sweet cigars with Port. Light-medium with a similar scotch.

Over-extracted wines, RS wines, seem to work best with cigars.

Also, Rye, preferably Willett.

Another vote for Bourbon or Stout. If wine, usually a tawny port.

Cigars usually numb your palate quite a bit. I’ve found that the smoke, tobacco, and tea leaf flavors tend to overwhelm the fruit component of most wines. Thus, I gravitate towards the fuller, richer dessert wines. For me, nothing beats Port (white & tawny, not so much ruby) and Madeira.

Anything from Lopez de Heredia is a perfect compliment to a cigar.

Actually an Amarone or a vin santo might not be a bad idea.

Mou Tai Liquor from China.

My experience is that cigars amplify the perception of acids at the end of the wine, and partly for that reason, I, like T Bone, think they tend to do pretty well with big, ripe, modern zins and Rhones.

I’ve never tried one with a white before, I don’t think.

Also Scotch. If it has to be wine, then a Ruby Reserve Port.
