Wind Gap Release-Next 30 Days

From an email just now. Also, remainder of Syrahs from past vintages are apparently up on the web site now for anyone who’s on the mailing list to reorder. Now off to try to figure out what a “Piccolo Bastardo” is…

"Mark your calendars and squirrel away some coin, we will be offering the following wines in the next 30 days.

2009 Wind Gap Piccolo Bastardo,
Fannuchi-Wood Road Vineyard
$32.00

2009 Wind Gap Pinot Noir,
Gap’s Crown/Griffins Lair, Sonoma Coast
$36.00

2008 Wind Gap ‘Rana’,
Grenache/Mourvedre/Syrah
$45.00

2008 Wind Gap Pinot Noir,
Woodruff Vineyard,
Santa Cruz Mountains
$50.00"

To answer my own question, the referenced vineyard produces Old Vine Zin and Trousseau Gris. Knowing Pax’s history with TG, and noting the price point on this wine, I’m assuming that’s what it is.

Tried the SCM pinot from barrel. Very worthy. Lovely wine. Pax barreled it 50% newer / 50% neutral oak.

Wind Gap sends a bomb to my inbox.
Blowing out 07’s and about to release the 08/09’s. But no Syrahs in the fall offering. WTF?

"Greetings from west Sonoma County,
We hope the Dog Days of summer have been kind to you, and that this late summer news reaches you well.
Three quick updates:

First of all and most importantly, Pam and I would like to introduce you to Susan LaRossa, our new Sales Manager. Susan is a seasoned professional who has been selling our wines to the top restaurants in New York City for the past 9 years, first the Pax Wines and then Wind Gap while working for Polaner Selections. Susan relocated to Sonoma County from Manhattan with her husband Patrick and her dog Deuce. She is already hard at work reaching out to customers on the mailing list and making sure you can find our wines in the country’s best restaurants.

While this eclectic line-up of wines is certainly our most diverse and probably our most exciting offer to date… a couple of these wines were bottled in downright tiny quantities… plan accordingly if you are interested in securing any these wines.
Lastly, as you have probably already noticed, Syrah is curiously absent from this offer. We will have a couple of beauties from the exceptional 2008 growing season ready for release soon, but in the meantime give Susan a call (707-235-4938) or email (susan.larossa@windgapwines.com), or login to your account. We would like to give you one last chance to get the last bits of our 2007 Syrahs, including the 2007 Sonoma Coast and the 2007 Griffins Lair. Both were featured in Eric Asimov’s controversial article on California Syrah in the New York Times earlier this summer and chosen as two of his top ten wines.
Also scoop up the last of the 2007 Castelli-Knight Ranch Syrah, 94 points from Robert Parker and the last and only Wind Gap bottling of this wine. (Exciting news to follow) We created two tidy packages for simplicity or feel free to order a la carte… either way… this is it for the 2007s."

Arrgghhhh! [shock.gif]

Looking at the prices on the '07s I wouldn’t call it a blow out. I may pick up a couple of the '07 Griffin’s Lair Syrah but the price makes it a stretch for me right now. I have a bunch of the Pax '07 Griffin’s bought for a bit less when Donelan really was blowing them out.

Yeah, if memory serves, these are the original prices. So only discount is about 5% on the “prepackaged” full case.
