I’m planning my next trip to the Willamette Valley and eyeing October 1-5, but I’m worried that producers may still be busy around harvest and that it may be a bad time to visit. Could anyone with more insight offer some suggestions as to whether this timing is feasible or if I should look to another time to visit?
I’d think the majority of grapes will have been picked by then, but people will still be quite busy with red ferments. If you want to taste with winemakers rather than tasting room staff, I’d suggest pushing back a couple of weeks if you can.

Just go so you can smell beautiful fermentation.
Tasted with you in late September/early October. Smell of fermentation wasn’t too bad. Now, when we got to Marcus’ place I might’ve been CO2 poisoned from the ferment. Haha!
Bad idea. Late Oct into Nov is a much better time.
