Why is Marcassin so expensive?

Pretty sure their portfolio is now only Estate Pinot and Chardonnay

This is correct. Just the two Marcassin Vineyard wines now.

Hi- have you seen any new releases since the 2013 Pinot from last year for marcassin?

I think I’ve seen 2015 Chardonnay and 2014 Pinot on the market.

I’m not on the list, but pretty sure I’ve seen both offered for sale.

One of the winemakers at Marcassin joked they were trying to go for three years w/o an offer, but that record was not attained. Helen and John always remind me of Gully JImson, the artist in the Horse’s Mouth. They try to do what they think is right and it’s all about the art.

In a way, the wines are a bargain if you are on the list.

I just got on the list and got the 2013 Pinot noir, looking forward to the next whenever that is offered.

How long were you waiting??

I waited a few years for sure, but then wrote a follow up email to see where I was and then they sent me the offer in the mail.

One reason for higher prices besides the supply/demand point, they are typically releasing wines that have already been cellared at their expense for 7-8 years. I don’t know of many wineries whose current offering is their ā€œ2014 vintageā€. Crazy!!

Chateau Latour

Vega Sicilia, in Spain is just offering its 2014.

And La Rioja Alta just began offering its 890`s 2010 vintage.
