I just ordered 2 of the “Frog” from 2021. I think it’s my favorite Chablis vineyard.
Wow, great responses everyone, and thank you!

Appreciate it @T_Welch, a strong endorsement.

@David_Bu3ker, love it, for some reason I have loved Chablis half-bottles more than almost any other region. They always seem to present so cleanly, beautifully, and match up to expectations. It’s probably just that I have more appropriate expectations, lol.

Thanks @B_Buzzini

Haha @Phil_T_r_o_t_t_e_r, I’m innocent, I swear! Just trying to summarize, but I’m glad to know you feel that strongly about it, lol. But yes, I guess I was implicitly just looking at 1ers, but it seems like Grenouilles has a lot of fans. None available here unfortunately, but I’ll keep an eye out.
Thanks everyone.
Just wondering if anyone has tasted any of the 2023s? I love these wines as well.
I just ordered 3 of the 2022.
I had 2 glasses of the '23 villages and loved it.
2023 Forets - good character and balance but closing down a bit from when first released. I’ll probably wait 6 months before I try another. Good potential.
Hi Jim,
Thanks for this it is one of my benchmark Chablis I enjoy. Is it nervy or a bit leaner? Trying to gauge the 2023s
Cheers
I tasted with Guillaume last spring in Chablis and he raved about the 2023 vintage. We tasted a lineup of 2022s and 2023s and the 2023s showed more intensity and verve. I am buying confidently across the lineup.
Amazing thanks for confirmation! I thought the 2022s were pretty nervy
Agreed. It’s very good. I find Louis Michel’s Butteaux and MdT to be on a par.
Drank a '23 Montmains the other night and it was lovely with around an hour of air.
Butteaux VV and Montee de Tonnerre are both great. Which is better is usually more about vintage and age. I don’t think I could pick one over the other overall. Generally I find the Butteaux to be a mineral bomb and is better younger. The MdT usually needs a few years in bottle and is often the richer, more fruit expressive of the two. Both are typically a solid notch above any of their other 1er Crus.
This thread inspired to pull the cork on a 2022 MdT. Very young, but also very enjoyable. My TN:
Still young. Pale gold in the glass. Nose of chalk, oyster shells, and preserved lemons. Super high toned.
In the mouth, the acid is high and the body is light. Very lively. Tons of minerality, and lemon zest, with an interesting medicinal bitterness right at the end that is kind of nice. It’s very primary, not particularly complex, but that’s expected at this young age. Perfect for dinner on one of the first warm nights of spring.
