I really like the Zalto Bordeaux. I don’t know if it’s the “best” or whatever, but it’s a very nice glass.
I haven’t tried the 1855 but I love the Cru. I had a few Zaltos already but really hesitated getting their burg glass so ended up with those.

If there is a Grassl deal for European buyers I’m in!
Very detectable. The original Cru were around 95 grams and they felt so much lighter than the current ones - except they broke when you breathed on them. The Conterno Sensory feels like a paperweight in comparison to both.
FWIW, the number one glass used in Bordeaux tasting rooms today is Sydonios. It’s produced in Bordeaux.
They are perfectly balanced so they feel great in your hands. Aromatics are pronounced and the wine distributes evenly on your palate.
Because the glass is delicate, with a thin stem, I reserve them for my better bottles. They make several different shapes. I purchased the Le Meridonal.
Seems like there got to be massive diminishing returns from shaving a half ounce off the weight of a glass is the cost is that ‘they break when you breathe on them’ ![]()
I have 12 of the old grassl cru glasses, and like them significantly more than the new ones. The opening is also a bit bigger. I only broke 2 since I got them and they were in the first batch where they sent you free replacements. I wouldn’t own them if I were @Robert.A.Jr but they’re manageable for most people. I wash them in the lower shelf of my Miele either in the glassware rack there or in my custom glassware rack and have no issues. You’re much more likely to break glassware handwashing, especially if you do it at the end of the night.
Wow that’s a really great tip!
I’ve been handwashing, thinking it’s more gentile, and that the dishwasher would be too rough/aggitated.
Will start using dishwasher.
The bowl reminds me of the classic Riedel Bordeaux glasses, but with more modern higher-end build quality (thinner stems and glass).
Replaced all my glasses (mostly Riedels) with Josephines. Never really messed with true hand-blown glasses before and the weight and beauty of these is truly an experience. Haven’t yet broken one.
If you don’t mind waiting a month, I would be fairly certain that you will see some nice offers on Berserker Day.
Zalto Bordeaux is such a nice glass. Got 2 new ones for Christmas, could just put hey buy me one of these for every Christmas and birthday and I’ll never complain.
Love my Zwiesel Pure Bordeaux which are dishwasher safe for daily use but they don’t compare.
For everyday drinking I love my GLSVAIN from @davidkong
For more special occasions, Grassl 1855 is awesome.
Thank you! Kane glasses back in stock, we will be participating in Berserker Day
Josephine 3 works well for me. Haven’t experienced breakages despite how delicate they feel.
I broke one Josephine, or rather my dog’s tail did.
Hard to beat the price, also. Two-packs go as low as $40 if you catch them on sale.
Hell yes!
Now there’s a new take on wine charms
