Who's going to Jazz Fest in NOLA?

Sunday thru Fri for us. Boss, WWOZ Piano Night, Cochon & Herbsaint all await. Will bring a mixed case so happy to share if others are down there ready to let the good times roll!

I WISH I was…

+1 !!

It’s been 10 years since I was last there and that’s just not acceptable. But, so it goes with work, babies, etc.

Enjoy Glenn!

Glenn - I will attending 5/3 to 5/5. Would enjoy meeting you and having a glass or 5!

Wish I was going. Several groups of friends are this year. Would love to see: Sonny Landreth, Tribute to Alex Chilton, The Iguanas, Rodrigo y Gabriela, My Morning Jacket, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Steve Earle, Allen Toussiant, Poncho Sanchez, Bon Iver, Warren Haynes/Dr John, Gary Clark Jr. And that’s just at the festival-not including all the local talent. Shit! Have fun man.

What a lineup. The fest is the best .

Boss & Co killed yesterday. Only the inclusion of Dancing In The Dark, perhaps the single worst entry in the Springsteen songbook, kept the set from epic status.

Glenn, everybody has their faves and dogs. Personally I think Dancing works great live. I really don’t need to hear Glory Days or Bobby Jean again ever in my life though.

Bronze, Silver & Gold medalists there.

Bishop Danced and The Weight in NJ last night. The odds of seeing both of those songs in the same show would be…?

Dining highlights were Drago’s in Metairie, Cochon, Luke and Cafe Amelie.

Lowlight was clearly Green Goddess.

Chazfest in the Bywater was just a blast. Best Wednesday ever during a Jazz Fest.

Wines enjoyed, begin with the best first:

Sine Qua Non 07 Labels Syrah @ Cochon. Perfect pairing, wonderful evening, sublime bottle. More I get to have these, more I love these wines.
Littorai 03 Mays Canyon Chardonnay. Seafood @ Drago and this wine made for a wonderful arrival dinner. Classy Chard with that special thing.
Williams Selyem 95 Allen. Just killed after Springsteen with room service, how come this isn’t somehow reproducible nowadays?
Scholium Project 10 Prince in his Caves. Open 4 days in our room, easily best Prince ever while staying true to the pedigree.
Kutch 07 McDougall. Best lunch we had all week was @ Lüke and this bottle did very well there. Wish it had more than a few hours open to air.
Ridge 95 Geyserville. Our last night with Grill Room apps made this a high-quality adieu to NOLA. Strong Geezer indeed.
Droin 04 Montee de Tonnerre. Also enjoyed after The Boss with friends in our room. Held its own with W-S Allen, almost. Not pox’ed!
Scholium Project 08 Prince. Off the list for near retail @ Cafe Amelie. Wonderful spot on Royal St, killa courtyard, great staff.
1975 Coutet Sauternes. Good but not great as a pop and pour with Royal House oysters and funky old pals.
1992 Hanzell Chardonnay. Not as good as other aged Hanzell wines but we were truthfully done by the time this was uncorked after Chazfest.

Glenn, looks like you drank very well. Sorry our schedules didn’t match up. Friday at the track was great- grace potter and Zach brown band both far exceeded expectations. Saturday was a mess of hot people, nothing missed there. I basically stuck to cold coors light all weekend, but did have a solid dinner at August. Cheers!

What did you bring to August? Do the tasting menu there Joe?

Private party upstairs for a good sized group. Wasn’t a good setting for enjoying wines so I had some Ibita’sqa
