Whole Foods - 30% all bottles over $15 - today only

One day sale; you need to go with a careful eye, but there are some decent deals to be had.

Is that nationwide?

Not sure, I am in northern CA and the wine guy told me if was definitely in all stores in our region. The 30% applies even to bottles that are already on sale and in the Palo Alto and Los Altos WFs they have some higher end (albeit mainstream stuff).

After discount prices:
Silver Oak Alexander Cab ’ 08 $49
Domaine Tempier '10 Bandol Red $29
Ridge Lytton Springs '11 $25

Last time they had this, I had to buy six or more bottles to get 30% off. Not much there that interested me but did end up picking up 02 DP for less than $100 during the sale.

I believe this is a Northern California only sale. They do this for beer a couple times a year and the sale is for N. California (and Reno) while Southern California has the beer sale at other times.

Not in Texas

Correct not SoCal

The joy of living in Nor Cal!!!

You are not required to purchase 6

My local store didn’t have much of a high-end selection, but the sale is certainly a great opportunity for less expensive easy-drinkers:

Roederer Estate Brut $15.39
Sean Thackrey Pleiades $17.49
Birichini Grenache $13.99

Happened to be in a store yesterday and saw the sign for today. Took a quick look around and spotted this as the one to buy. Grabbed 3 today!

De Villaine Aligoté Bouzeron 2010 $21

I heard the ad on the radio last evening coming home from work and stopped by the San Ramon store on the way home. 2008 Keenan Cab for $35 and 2011 Ridge Geyserville for under $29. Had to buy a few!

Thanks,
Ed

Luckily here in New York we don’t have to deal with that. Grocery stores are not allowed to sell wine because it may lead to alcohol abuse and it will put all of the small wine retailers with carefully curated selections out of business.

In places like California, there is no alcohol abuse and there are no specialty wine stores with wonderful selections, so it’s OK for Whole Foods to sell wine. And then to discount it no less. Sheesh.

I went to Whole Paycheck for some scallops yesterday, and checked just to be sure it wasn’t available in Socal, unfortunately to be confirmed.

So, instead, I picked up some ahi poke for an appetizer and some macaron for dessert.

Picked up a bottle of Billecart Salmon rose - $55 after discount.

No sale here. Must be a regional sale only.

Yea, nothing here either. I think they add 30% here. To be fair they are not alone in their elevated pricing, it’s an AZ thing.
