Thanks for the explanation, Shelby! This makes total sense. If it makes you all feel better, we drank most of it on day 1. It was just too good!
The Solera is drinking really well right now and I think itâll keep improving with time. I donât agree with certain comments in CT describing this sparkling as linear and austere. I personally found it complex and with a beautiful tension. Shelby mentioned that she might add some dosage to this cuvĂ©e in the future and I donât know how is that going to work out, but for what Iâm concerned I would not change a thing, itâs delicious as it is
It is a wine that was built to improve with much more time as it was just bottled several months ago and it is a brut nature. Personally, I find it a bit austere and this warrant a course correction on dosage the future - but hey, time will tell as to whether this style will work. Love the adventure and thank you for the kind words.
Every time I see this thread bounce up I wonder why Harter is in all caps. I actually now hear the name in my head that way, like the speaker raises her voice conspicuously for the second name.
So Iâm finally breaking down and asking. Thanks.
I canât remember why, although I do see it presented that way other places including when you google.
Proof of your influence on social media.
I just listened to Shelbyâs podcast episode when she was a guest on the Organic Wine Podcast. Iâll just say I wish my life was half as interesting as hers was before she got into winemaking. Nuclear waste disposal? Neighbors with a shaman? Trip to Antarctica? It has it all.
âGreenbow, ALABAMA.â - Forrest Gump
Then her name should be the one in all caps!
Well you havenât heard Peterâs story yet.
Peter definitely holds his own but I pretty much kept his story out of the podcast in case I blurted out anything too outrageous in regards to my prior employment or went on a swearing spree - which happens sometimes when I get on some controversial topics.
The Perkins Harter fall release was announced today. I grabbed a mixed case including 2023 Bracken PN and backfilled some 22 Bracken PN and 21 Sojeau PN. (I thought the 21 were also Bracken when I placed the order and was super excited because I love that wine and thought I had purchased the last 6 available back in 2022. But itâs ok it will be nice to try the Sojeau too. )
Can you share the announcement?
Not really structured in a good way to copy and paste like I see some people do with other winery releases. But I think this link might work to open it in browser?
I drank the Perkins Harter 22 Bracken Pinot Noir a few weeks ago and thought it was great. Very nice fruit, earthy Pinot, blind I would have thought about an old world PN, maybe even a young vine Gevrey. This vineyard has so much potential, I was very impressed.
Thank youâŠI think the vineyard is just starting to get its sea legsâŠit will be interesting to see how much the Pinot remains different from the wines from the vineyard next door (i.e. Sojeau)
Iâve got half-priced overnight shipping posted through New Yearâs Day if anyone needs to do some last minute shopping. Here for the procrastinators. Discount is automatic at checkout.
Rose with Christmas dinner ham ⊠so delicious!
We had a wonderful mag of 2017 La Belle Promenade Chardonnay that gained a lot of fans at the table last night. A touch tropical but not overripe, for my taste was likely drinking close to or at peak.
Looks like a wine bottle.
