I’m surprised I didn’t see any other posts referring to this “emailer” from Siduri. Received email from Siduri last Thursday offering CA residents a 2 day “Thanksgiving Special”. Here’s a clip:
"The first Thanksgiving was held in 1621 in Plymouth, MA with 53 Pilgrims in attendance along with a group of Native Americans (led by King Massasoit). Appropriately, the only two written accounts of this celebration begin with references to “our harvest being gotten in……” We, too, have brought in our harvest and have now spent some time sorting thru our wine cellar, discovering several wines that we have 14 cases or less still hanging around. So, in celebration of that first Thanksgiving in 1621 we have decided to share our small remaining bounty of these wines with you for only $16.21!
Wines offered ran from Novy Blanc de Noir (reg. $25) to Siduri Cargassachi Pinot (reg. $49!). It included a total of 6 Siduri and Novy wines. I saw the email a couple of hours after it arrived and by the time I called Kate at Siduri, the wines had sold out. She said they were surprised by the response, but were preparing an alternative offer for those who missed the brief window of availability on this one. On Friday morning, I received an email offering more Siduri and Novy wines to those who ordered from the first list but were closed out.
“Because of this demand…and because we obviously screwed up and didn’t adequately anticipate demand…we are sending this EXTRA SPECIAL OFFER only to those of you who have now placed requests and who’s requests we are unable to fill. Please read it carefully…as it takes our Thanksgiving turkey and hopefully turns it into a feast for those of you who cannot get what you originally requested .”
This one offered 9 more Siduri and Novy wines at the same $16.21/bottle with shipping at $1.65/bottle (for orders of more than 6). Again the regular prices had ranged from $25 to $46/bottle!
I waited to post until this week, since the email asked us not to pass the offer along since Siduri was “digging deep” to “make things right” for those denied in the earlier sale. (I hope I’m not violating any implied confidences in posting now!).
The first sale was a great offer for the holiday…and maybe helped Siduri/Novy move some inventory and improve cash flow. However the “make-up” sale was a grand gesture by a class act. I’ve enjoyed their wines for awhile now…but I just became a fan for life! Thanks and a very happy Thanksgiving to Adam and Dianna Lee for driving my credit cards even closer to their limits.
