There is no rule.
There is no excuse.
I love white wine. I will drink it ANYTIME!

I will never sleep with a man who loves white wine.

totally cool in my book… when its sauternes ![]()
I’m with Bone.
I actually prefer doing a big tasting reds first, as then there is far less palate fatigue. Even at UGC I did the reds first…
Seriously! I just came back from a great steak dinner with Cab Franc and Pinot, and the only thing my hotel was a bottle of very tasty white wine.
So…I cracked it! And I’m enjoying it as I would a glass of red at the end of the evening.
All I’m saying is white wine can be enjoyed as the last drink of the night…just as well as a glass of red.
Bottom line is it depends on what your eating. Unless it’s a white Burg, I prefer to drink reds if I’m just drinking.
But what about those who go both ways…you know…AC/DC?
Father Saxon,
I’m talkin’ after you come home after a great wine evening, and all you have is white wine!
I like it!!!

T-Bone…down the road from you, Melville serves their Viognier (when they have it… they don’t right now) after the reds… it really works… takes the edge off of the tasting… and leaves one feeling…refreshed…

Dietz! This is a tasting regimen we’re trying to do on the road! Taste our Pinot’s, …then taste our Sauv. Blancs!
Hey, why not mix it up a bit? I think most people deserve this!
Bone
…out.
That’s awesome man. Way to play it your way. White wine and a good buddy late at night is the way to go.

i always go back to good whites after reds @ any big tasting and often prefer white late after a long night. nobody ever gets in my face about it.
I mix and match all of the time. Especially when the palate starts to fatigue. That’s why I usally save a glass of Champagne throughout my tastings.

Not without a stepstool, huh?
Whites after reds rock. There’s nothing like white Burgundy or Champagne and stinky cheeses.
And don’t forget a good, dry acidic rose after reds as well - cleanses the palate and VERY refreshing!!!
Cheers!

Definitely. The whole “whites then reds” thing is vastly overstated. It’s true I wouldn’t want to follow a palate staining new-wave Priorat (not that I drink such wines) with a delicate white, but I wouldn’t want to follow it with a delicate red either.
And as Michel mentions, whites with the cheese course.
I particularly enjoy a crisp white after some heavy reds. Helps cleanse out my palate. For further drinking.
