Drank this with smoked turkey on Christmas Day. Also opened Kobayashi, M/R white, but it was not as impressive, maybe a 90, but unfair to rate due to comparison. Will drink that one again later by itself.

  • 2021 WeatherEye Vineyards Clairette Blanche - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain (12/26/2023)
Nose is meyer lemon custard, jasmine, gingerbread, medium to full body, viscous coating palate meringue, subtle spice, long finish. Complete wine start to finish in a delicious introduction to this variety. My only bottle, so will have to stock up next time. (94 points)

Disappointing Treveri #. 4? Come on, those are rookie numbers.

True! I will say I don’t always record Treveri buys and immediate consumption.

For Christmas dinner:
2010 Nortstar Cab Franc: Fruit still alive with that great Franc signature flavor, excellant
2013 Gamache Nicolas (st. nick) blend. Stunning bottle of wine. Fruits all there and the cab franc stood out to me but maybe it’s because we had the northstar open too.
2013 saviah syrah; took a bit for this one to open up. Not my style of syrah but it is for the wife. a bit of oak and a bit of syrah fruit blended nicely with the chocolate cake.

I noticed Leonetti on your list. Which bottle would you suggest as a nice gift but not extravagant? Special, but not over the top. I’m buying for a Leonetti fan, but I don’t know which bottle to choose.

Not Chris, but their Cab is the best variety that Leonetti produces. I’d find something a bit older.

Thank you, Kris. That helps a lot. I’ll check out their Cab.

Lately I have been really enjoying the 2019 Abeja Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley.

Welcome Josh…keep the WA notes coming.

Haven’t had Abeja in a while, will grab one next time I see one.

Thank you! I snagged most of my 2019s and 2020s at the Costco in Seattle.

Had a very interesting bottle yesterday (okay, a half bottle) from my dad that took me on a ride in the Way Back machine:

  • 2004 Kiona Chenin Blanc Ice Wine - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain (1/21/2024)
Brown colored and over the hill, but still enjoyable! Marmalade, dried apricot, nutmeg.

It was a fun wine to drink even though it wasn’t great. Yeah, I know those are some odd glasses for a dessert wine, but they were from his parents, so they were fun to use anyway.

That Kiona was a fun one! We are sitting on a bottle of 1997 Kiona Late Harvest White Riesling. And these days we eat low carb so we aren’t likely to open it any time soon. I need a good excuse so I can at least have a taste.

Drank a bunch of Scott’s dessert wines back in early 2000’s when I sold them…1997’s thru 2002’s. Jerry Bookwalter was also a good source for sweets back then.

PSA, Seattleites: the University Village QFC has 2018 Spring Valley Frederick and 2016 Spring Valley Uriah for $29.99. If you can get 12 bottles together, they’re 10% off and would be $26.99.

Pro tip…you can use Underwood wine cans to fill out the 12, grab some sparkling cans for mimosa’s. It’s usually pick 6 Brandon, are you sure it’s 12?
