Which route do you take when you travel to the RR?

More of a question to non-natives.

When you travel to the the Russian River to go tasting do you travel by route 116, River Road or do you go up to dry creek and across/down? Or do you go up 1 and go east? I know this may vary based on vacation plans but I’m trying to get a pulse on which of these routes are used most often. I’m wondering if the 101/116/Sebastopol route is getting more popular due to the Barlow?

Thanks,
Evan

The Barlow?

It is location of Kosta, Cirq, McPhail, Freeman and LaFolette. In Sebastopol.

And Wind Gap!

I went in August and the traffic wasn’t bad at all through Sebastopol. We did the 101/116/12/River Rd combination, but we were coming from the east and visiting a couple different places in the area.

Along with lunch at the brewpub and dinner at Zazu and you’ll never have to leave!

I was talking to someone recently who was underwhelmed by Zazu o a recent visit (a local, no less). Snotty service [snort.gif]

Yeah, I was really sorry to see Zazu move. The old location was very quaint and charming, new location is bound to be just a yuppy SF weekend destination. Coffee house next door is pretty good, though.

But to answer the original question: it really depends on where I’m going, it’s a big area. If Westside Road (Rochioli) I normally stay on 101 up to Healdsburg. If I want to get into the country faster I’ll take River Rd across the bridge. If more southerly, usually Guerneville Rd, sometimes 12 through Sebastopol, sometimes 116. For some reason I don’t tend to come north on 116, but will go south that way a lot.

Thanks for your responses. We have been considering production locations and were interested in a place on 116, it seems that the traffic/type of traffic makes it less desirable. We will probably stick to our home Petaluma Gap area.
