• 2021 Willi Schaefer Graacher Trocken
Although a trocken, this had a hint of a sweet jasmine flavor to it on top of the lemon-lime thrust of the wine. Fairly delicate, but with good acidity. Enjoyable if a little dead-ahead in its taste.

2026 Limefinger Riesling The Learnings Watervale Clare Valley: Lemon and lime, talc and dried flowers. Great energy and vibrancy. Fine and detailed. Loaded with citrus flavours. Beautiful balance and finesse. Length to burn.
2026 Limefinger Riesling The Solace Polish Hill River Clare Valley: Just 375 bottles made. A nose of powdered lime and citrus blossom. The palate is understated, direct and sharp and clear. It has great intensity and drive and finishes with awesome cut and slatey mineral notes. 11% alcohol.
I had this recently, side by side with the ‘22 am fels. I couldn’t tell them apart. Have you hand any opportunities to compare and contrast? I agree, this is stellar wine.
I only have the ‘21 Am Fels, so completely different vintage character.
My first taste of Max Kilburg last night- 2022 Geierselay Kabinett. Not sure where I’ve been, other than missing this wine. This wine put a smile on face. Joyful, if that makes sense. Everything just right at this level and price point. A lot of material still in reserve if you ask me, but also just very drinkable. want more.
The single vineyard dry wines are also spectacular. I’ve had a couple kabis that just had that sparkle that great Mosel wines have. Also don’t sleep on their Pinot! Love this producer
Not sure I would have ever said this when Daniel (RIP) was making the wines, but this reminds me very much of a Willi Schaefer Kabinett. It’s very bright, and there’s a subtle note of bitterness on the finish that I often find in Schaefer Kabinetts.
Please share how it showed!
The '25 spatlese is every bit as good as the MFW review promises.
Looking forward to trying these! Wondering when I should check in.
Excellent. I bought some.
Drank a bottle of 2018 Margarethenhof Ayler Kupp reserve that I bought on Berserker day from @LisaT. I’m only familiar with this producer through Tupetz but I really enjoyed this. I believe this is their top single vineyard wine. Rich and ripe riesling (maybe due to a hotter 2018 vintage), but plenty of Saar acidity and minerality. Great wine
Thank you for sharing, @Mitch_Sayers
2018 was definitely a hotter year. The 2020 was pretty warm too, that’s the current release. The Reserve ferments in new Moselle oak and ages in it for two years. It’s a native fermentation and it’s bottled unfiltered. This is definitely a richer, dry Riesling.
The oak is not toasted so you’re not getting the classic oaky aromas but it still adds to the complexity of the wine.
2020 is also Nicolas Weber’s first vintage. He took over the winemaking role since then and is now also the owner of Margarethenhof, which his parents founded in the 80s.
First time trying this wine. Very dry. A bit sour. Grapefruit Went well with halibut in a lemon butter caper sauce but not so enjoyable standalone as a sipper
He makes a really delicious Kabinett as well! Low ABV AND low RS. Not sure how he does it, but it’s one of my favorites. Also from @LisaT (We miss you Lisa!)
I miss you all too, I will make time to see you all in the East Bay or SF. This year was so busy with work… I love his Kabinett as well! I’ll bring the new vintage to the next EBRS!
Damn you! I am trying not to buy any 2025 Riesling!
