I had another 2016 of this a couple of months ago @Kent_Comley and it was looking great. And it barely budged across a week of going in and out of the fridge to check in how it was developing.
2020 AR.PE.PE Rosso di Valtellina
Drank a week ago and missed scribbling down any notes unfortunately.
PnP - light and delicate, at first, with air this sort of reminded me of the janitor/clear guy chocking massive big blocks lifting their heavy weights with ease. It really builds up and gets very serious, tannic like what you’d expect from a Barolo. Thought it was related to something I ate first, three days in, it was still very solid (I liked it, very good!)
Guess vintage related as well and the vines are now probably quite old.
Good to know Will. I do like 16s but I was shocked to see the current vintage is $A120/bot these days, which prices it at Barolo level!
2016 Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco Rabajà: A calm and understated wine of savoury nuance. A hint of nuttiness and plenty of earth. delightful violets and rose petal florals. Red cherry fruit that has a crunchy edge. Mid-weight and beautifully balanced. Great acid drive and an expansive finish. Engaging now but plenty left in the tank
