Which Nebbiolo are you drinking?

The 2020 Sottimano ‘Nebbiolo’ [Langhe] is a very good example of the varietal, and satisfies the itch for my low commitment palate to the region. It’s medium bodied, 14.5% abv, with a pale ruby hue. This example came over from Estate Wines Ltd. of Petaluma, but other importers advise that these are estate grapes, from younger vines in Neive, and recieve light oak during upbringing. Unfined, unfiltered and lots of chalky tannin over all three days of consumption. Tasted better with food, but ‘plush enough by DO standards’ to be enjoyable by itself. Other flavors include anise, flowers, cloves and a touch of orange peel acidity. I liked it best with homemade grilled pizza, but burgers were fine too. This is a B+ on my card, and it’s great value, but I think Barbaresco fans would enjoy it even more. Closed with DIAM5 and showing light sediment today.
