Diebolt-Vallois, Chartogne-Tallet, Vilmart, Pierre Peters, Gonet-Medeville, La Rogerie, Philippe Lancelot, RL Legras, Marie Courtin, Vouette et Sorbee, Nathalie Falmet, Marguet, Mousse FIls, Pierre Gimonnet, Paul Bara are some I have in my cellar; I’m selling quite a bit of my grower stock, though, as I have much more than I actually drink. I drink more Cedric Bouchard than all other growers combined, though.
commerce corner again? Haven’t seen it yet.
Thank you. That is a cool list, many of those I buy too.
gonna send to auction once I actually have time to inventory it all.
Billecart Salmon Nicolas Francois 2008
Information from Billecart Myorigin website bottle no. 081077.
60% PN. 40% Chard. 2.9g/l dosage. Disgorged 1st qtr 2022. More info available on the website (nice website)!
Opened and this was very light in color and vey gentle on the nose. A bit of nice leesy brioche aroma, and a touch of citrus and green apple. On the palate this was very bright and pure. Good citrus fruit and almost like a Chablis chalky/oyster shell character. A very delicate but persistent mousse and a nice long finish. But I could not help thinking that there was not enough body to this wine. I really liked it, but felt it lacked depth. On day two it was a tad deeper and maybe this just needs time. Either way this is definitely a wine that needs food. It was very nice with a piece of sautéed sole. Will be interesting to follow.

Is that a Lehmann glass?
I loved their 2012 Millesime! Absurd QPR. Down to my last two bottles, I think, and it’s time to drink up. Hope you liked your bottle!

Is that a Lehmann glass?
Yes, it could look like the Jamesse Grande Champagne, but not sure.

Honestly very surprised to hear that. Bummer. All of my experiences with the 2008 have been enjoyable, and the wine has always shone pretty big.
N.V. Laherte Frères Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature
This is great. Intense, acidic, grippy, but not austere for my palate. Caraway seed and lemon oil. Great depth and length.
I haven’t tasted 2008 Billecart Francois Nicolas, but I’ve tasted many other 2008 grand marques. None of the better wines I’ve tasted is near ready, to my palate. 2002 Francois Nicolas is starting to drink well.
Every 02 bubbly I’ve had in the last 2-3 years, including the Billecart, is ready for prime time.
A favorite of mine, too. Pat, if you still have the bottle and can read the back label I’d be curious to know the disgorgement date.
I’ve soured on these glasses. I am finding the Champagne I drink out of them almost universally show thin. I now compare every bottle I open with a Vinum Champagne glass or an inexpensive Sauvignon Blanc glass I etched on the bottom. 90% of the time the wines show more heft in those glasses. I haven’t heard anyone else make this observation, perhaps I am just nuts, but I can’t help but wonder if that’s why your Elisabeth Salmon showed the way it did.

Salon needs more time. So does the late release Cristal.
I don’t doubt it, lol!
I’ve had quite a few of the top 02 champagnes, but I haven’t had those (and highly unlikely to), nor some of the other heaviest weights like the 02 Krug(s).
My personal favorite glass as well!

Very interesting observation - I have not had the same experience, as I use the Grand Champagne quite a lot, but also drink champagnes from other glasses, but I haven’t tried the Grand Champagne side-by-side with something else…
I figured this would be very young as well, but a magnum this past weekend was crushingly good.
