The Blanc de Blancs from Leseure was nice but did not convince me as much as the entry level champagne from Gilbert Leseure, the Tradition Brut.
100% Pinot Noir from the vintage 2020. Dosage 5,5 g/l, degorgement 10th October 2022.
Golden colour with strong red reflexes. A rich nose with nuances of red fruits and a maritime breeze. A creamy, medium bodied champagne with really nice red fruit aromatics, veering towards red cherries, a hint of spice and cocoa. The acidity is subdued but enough to give vivacity. With time a maritime saline minerality comes through. A champagne with a sense of contradiction, it is puissant with the pinot noir muscle but also extremely delicate and nuanced aromatics.
Obvioulsy I am coming at this from the point of view of someone who sells. We can keep this champagne for under the 30 € mark and from this proce point of view, the tradition brut really delivers. This is the sort of champagne I can start drinking in the morning and keep sipping all day.
