Which aged Tondonia to open?

I have the Lopez de Heredia 1984, 1985, and 1987. Which is likely to give the most pleasure now?

I also am considering the 1964 Martinez Lacuesta Reserva Special. 1964, if I am not mistaken, was a very fine vintage in rioja.

Well, the 1964 sounds really good - and I once had the Bosconia which was excellent.

I´m no specialist in Rioja but from the 80ies I think 1987 was an excellent year - and 1984 should be totally mature, fwiw.

I’d do the '64 Lacuesta first as it’s past peak, but still delicious, followed by the '84 Lopez. Both the '85 and '87 are superior to the '84 and there’s no rush with them, though they are certainly enjoyable now.

Excellent advice, gentlemen. I will take the 64 and maybe the 84 Lopez as a back-up. Thanks

Sorry, I saw this thread just now. How was the wine?

1964 Tondonia was quite well in October when I opened one for the round birthday of a friend.
Actually it showed more potential than he does… neener

Make sure you leave time for decanting the LdH!
