Agreed, I now cringe whenever I see a Napa bottle over $200 knowing you could buy almost all types of left bank Bordeaux wine with that money… still doesn’t stop me from buying from Napa unfortunately
There are probably more recommendations if you are look for a specific variety. In terms of Cabernet (both Sauvignon and especially Franc), I think that Detert is tremendous and worth it at over $100.
If you like Bordeaux, then Cos d’Estournel, Montrose and Haut-Bailly are still good values for the quality.
If you want to go big for special occassions, Ridge Montebello, Vine Hill Ranch and Maybach (especially Materium) make some of the best Cabernet I have ever had. Very expensive, but as good as other cult bottles costing twice as much.
If you like syrah and the funk, Cayuse at release prices (not secondary) are still a great bargain.
Since the OP examples were Napa, my list is William & Mary, Rivers-Marie, Roy Piper, and Detert.
Thinking of other wines that are still worth it to me over $100, there have been plenty of solid Bordeaux mentioned, to which I’d personally add Lynch-Bages and Smith Haut Lafitte. And there’s some champagne, Bollinger lga, Taittinger cdc, Grand Siecle, and inching closer to the $100 mark, vintage Delamotte bdb.
Some solid recos in this thread. You do not need to spend $100 to find an outstanding wine. Granted it is easier at that price point, but not necessary.
I agree 100% with this sentiment. I was tempted to add more than a few under $100 with similar sentiment as yours, but I stuck to the thread topic (it was tough).
Since you didn’t specify any categories, I think there are a lot. These come to mind immediately.
Taittinger Comtes de Champagne
Billecart-Salmon – both Louis and Elizabeth
Brovia – both Villero and Rocche
Jamet Cote-Rotie (getting close to my breaking point)
Clape Cornas
Juge Cornas (only if you find it at a good price)
Also, tons of older Napa cabs and red Bordeaux.
Maybe a more interesting question is which wines under $100 are worth more than $100.
So I ran my CT purchases since 1/1/24 and under $125 and these are the ones that I think hit the spot from a ‘recent’ release perspective. If we’re going historical, the list gets longer. . . .

Man, i haven’t checked that out in so long! Still going strong it sounds like, yeah??
Either way…digging through that would take years. So ill assume it was an offer and peeps guessed it was from MACDONALD…which obviously has a 0% chance of being accurate
I think there are plenty of wines that have been well over $100 that are still worth well over that price point. If we focus on wines that were recently below that mark, but now sit above (or well above), that makes for a compelling discussion. Also a more rarefied one. Seems like most of the wines I’ve enjoyed have been consistently above or below.
For my tastes, these are couple recent ones that I’ve really enjoyed that straddled a $100 budget:
