Some amazing adventures in the works after scrolling though this thread. Helps feed the brainstorming idea board for the future.

We’re NJ-based. Here is what we currently have planned for this year.

London (done)
Dominica (anybody been? one of the few Caribbean islands we have not been to yet)
Florida (golf at Streamsong)

Cape Breton Island (another golf trip)
Oregon again (Ducks vs Hoosiers football game)
December - need to plan something somewhere warm, with golf

Will be some work trips as well yet to be planned. Hopefully some good spots.

Some for work, some for play.

San Francisco
Los Angeles
New Orleans
Chicago (twice)
Copenhagen
Lisbon
Miami
Anguilla

I also venture into Manhattan from time to time.

A nice article on 10 underrated destinations. Happy to see Hamburg, Germany which I will be visiting in June for a wine event.

For me last year (2024) was about hitting as many new places as I could as I had 2 months of Gardening leave. We hit 10 or so new countries and spent a week and half in Mexico City. When I step back I did really miss going to our usual haunts particularly Paris which we did hit twice but both were for short trips. This year I want to return more to our favorite places where we have built up relationships! It is only Feb 3rd and I have already hit the Mosel, LA, SF and Paris.

We did Umbria last year. I think that was fourth trip there. Home base in Bevagna. Enjoy your stay.

Been to Tampa and St Pete so far this year. Clearwater this month. Bonita Springs in April. Brittany/Normandy in May. Bar Harbor in July. Cruise in August (not yet planned). Maybe Sicily in Sept. or Oct.

Drink some Sagrantino?

Have you spend any time in Tuscany? There is a lovely vineyard with accomodations on the property. They host cooking classes, wine tastings, etc. in addition to the lovely grounds. It’s called Querceto in Castellina. The vineyard is run by an Italian man/American woman couple. Querceto di Castellina - Azienda Agricol Bio - Castellina in Chianti - Siena - Italia | EN

Visited NYC for a week last month, going to Piedmont in April/May, maybe another place in Europe in June or July, another trip to Tuscany in September, another trip to help a friend in the harvest in Piemonte in October, maybe Burgundy in December

The restaurant at the Piazza of Montefalco is magical

Del Norte CO/Wolf Creek for snowboarding at end of Feb
Sicily in May
Back to Tahiti/Society Islands in December

That’s it so far. Found previous threads on Sicilian wines (i.e. tasting notes) but not many travel-specific posts. Will do my part to change that but interested in suggestions for itineraries out of Catania, especially recommended lodging.

I’m planning a family vacation to Disney World this summer, and I recently found this https://orlandovacation.com/pages/wdw-base-tickets that offers inexpensive tickets, ideal for making our trip even more beneficial! After Disney, we’re going to SeaWorld to see the magnificent orcas up close.

Back in the Philippines and my little family just visited Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Thailand (Bangkok), and Vietnam (Saigon).

I’ve now visited 13 countries and counting.

We adored Sicily - spent thirteen nights there and could have spent longer. We flew into Catania and home from Palermo.

High level -
3 nights near Ortigia at Hotel Minareto
3 nights in Taormina at Grand Hotel Timeo
2 nights in Sciacca at Hotel Verdura
2 nights in San Vito lo Capo at Baglio La Porta
3 nights in Palermo at Villa Igeia

Let me know if you need any details!

Thank you for the recs!

Any Tampa/St Pete restaurant recommendations? We’re in Clearwater Beach the end of the month.

St Pete (downtown) and Tampa are 40-50 minutes away with no traffic. If you’re still interested after knowing this, I’ll give you some places to consider.

Closer to CB is the Black Pearl in Dunedin which was excellent when I went a couple years ago. But it’s been a while since I was there.
