What YEAH! wine are you drinking?

Just pulled the 2021 Brosseau Syrah and followed it over two days. The first day, I honestly couldn’t tell it was a syrah, but you better believe it was Extradimensional! It was so elegant and light and fruit-forward that there was no sign of the brawn that I expect from syrah. That showed itself much more on day two, when the structure and pepper and olives were much more evident.

TL;DR: unmistakably YEAH! and absolutely delicious.

Short form: wow. Believe the hype. This was transcendental.

From CT review:

Some XWCY! wines are pyrotechnic. Some are sublime. This is on the sublime end of the spectrum — in the sense of subtle, layered, with all that typical XWCY! energy pushed into a new, metaphysical plane. Like a lot of the Extradimensional whites I’ve had, this is more contemplative than exuberant. Pear, quince, peach, cut grass, honeycomb, lanolin — this is a masterpiece of balance and reflective calm. At times it seemed very Loire Chenin, at times almost Pouilly-Fuissé. Every single element of the mix is identifiable here — Grenache Blanc, Semillon, Sauv Blanc, Primitivo, and here they all work together. This is the Goldberg Variations of wine. At the same time, it’s an absolute crowd pleaser. You can enjoy this wine on whatever level you want. The more I think about it, the more the word “masterpiece” fits.

Is this like listening to the Goldberg Variations while driving a Maybach? :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

That is a very interesting question. Maybe akin to listening to Goldberg Variations while on an anchored sailboat.

(lol - just noticed my typo. I must have had Goldbach’s Conjecture on the brain….)

I can not process this without getting emotional. It means a lot. My 10yr old daughter calls the ufo “her wine”. She helped in the vineyards, picking, lending her nose in some of the blending trials, and in convincing me that UFO (unidentified fermented object) was the name to run with.

For the short while it was in the tasting room, she’d help bring the bottle to the table and often do a cartwheel, split , or some gymnastics move while I poured it- making it even more perfect. All that youthful joy, finesse, and discovery would radiate from the glass and everyone there would “get it”.

Thank you for sharing. I’ve got that Bach piece going now and can hear my daughter (home with a cold) signing along in the background.

While I am not a big fan White Rhône grapes, I do adore the textural aspects of Grenache Blanc (and also Roussanne). That’s the hook here for me. It has good fruit, but the texture just slays me.

I’ve had a lot of great EWCY! wines recently but this one stopped me in my tracks. Everything perfectly in place. Special vineyard, special winemaker.

Shape shifting nose, warm berry compote, crushed sweettarts, a faint herbal note. Mesmerizing in the mouth, with a ripe peach treble, raspberry mid range, and tannic bass note. The equalizer is set perfectly, everything is in harmony, and the finish is long. Fantastic juice.

The Brosseau Syrah got me curious about the other Brosseau bottles hiding out in my locker. What a site that must be!

2023 Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah! Pinot Noir Brosseau Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Chalone (9/24/2026)
What a mind-spinning experience! On the pop, the nose was big and jammy, like strawberry preserves; the palate was soft but structured. Very elegant.

Not 20 minutes later, the jam had all blown away and everything came into focus as a classic and elegant pinot - sour cherries, cherry preserves, with a hint of laser light show in the background. Amazing, and just as surprising as I expect from an Extradimensional bottle! (95 points)

Serious cred from the man with 905 EDWCY notes in CT!

Well done, good and faithful wino!

• 2023 Summer Salters III Rosé.

Somehow I found another bottle of this deep in the vaults. It’s still as refreshing and lovely as the first time, with notes of strawberry, watermelon and oregano. A rosé still dancing at age 3. Funky color as a bonus.

2024 Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah! “UFO” Sonoma Valley

First bottle I’ve tried from producer, from my BD case. Opened, sampled a bit shortly after. Muted, a bit flat. Closed it back up. Another small glass day #2. Felt like listening to a techno concert through a wall – all bass and muffled high notes.

Then, finally, after about 36 hours after opening, it reveals itself.

Pours a quite pale gold. Nose with pear, orange rind, wet wool. The palate erupts with density and expression…ripe pear, white peach, delicate orange, long wet wool finish. Beautiful structure of medium plus body and acidity. The wine vibrates in the mouth and goes and goes.

Absolute banger of a wine. Took forever to open and then, sublime. Evolving, delicate, rich.

Great intro into the Extradimensional lineup! One of my personal favorites. I am surprised it took so long to open up but glad you got it into a good spot. Evolving, delicate, rich… well said!

Thanks for trying the BD case and for popping the UFO. So glad it came around (and thanks for hanging in there with it).

Anyone else get their last order shipped in 90F heat? Exterior of the bottle 86 on delivery, and was two days in the truck due to a UPS error.

Yeah originally requested October ship dates. I guess in the future I’ll need to go for November. That’s on me.

UPS screwed up my delivery, also arriving 2 days later than what it initially showed, no idea why. And it was 86 or so here today. Bottles were slightly warm to the touch, but I’m guessing will be fine.

Yes, same situation here. I had no idea it had even shipped. Thankfully no raised corks, but it’s certainly less than ideal.
