For holiday Champagne lovers - got into the Rene Geoffroy Volupté 06 tonight - this is in a lovely place now - the Pinot fruit is all about shiny peach and strawberry, and the oak is all about texture and density and less about flavor.
just stood up a 2002 beringer private reserve cab and a 2003 Sloan for Christmas dinner tomorrow. Will probably have a sauv blanc or riesling while cooking ! Happy holidays to all!
I like this list. The relatives always have a ton of young California cab that doesn’t really play well with turkey and ham (but pretty happy with the tri-tip). I’m going to add a rosesse or two and maybe another light red to the mix. Lighter than Cali cab that is.
Bubbles for NYE. Maybe white Burgundy for dinner if I can pull together seafood or truffles.
For Xmas eve dinner tonight with friends, I’m bringing a 1988 Pichon Baron to go with the rack of lamb they are preparing, and a 2003 La Tour Blanche to pair with the fois gras course.
