Mine was a 2001 Oliverhill Jimmy Section, and it was very good.
1995 Three Rivers, it was merely Ok.
1990 Henschke Mt Edelstone on the weekend. It was fabulous.
2001 Integrity. Excellent.
Something from Marquis Phillips about a decade ago. That last Shiraz I drank might be the last Shiraz I’ll ever drink. Actually, I’m more open minded, but someone else will have to buy it and convince me things have improved.
2005 Amon Ra – Awesome as usual. It was sadly, my last 2005.
1998 Leasingham Classic Clare Shiraz - in 2007.
2011 Domaine du Coulet (Matthieu Barret) Côtes du Rhône Petit Ours Brun. “Fruit forward with bright acidity and some tannic grip to hold it all together, sort of a nutty finish that lingers nicely with the dark fruits.”
A little young but an enjoyable quaff that should improve and be drunk over the next few years.
I didn’t know that they made Shiraz in France. Just kidding.
Was the purpose of this thread to restriction answers to Australia (and S. Africa?)
Is there a shiraz issue, from australia, that i am not aware of?
No restrictions. But it’s Aussie in which I’m interested.
2004 John Duval - “Entity” Shiraz was the last Aussie Shiraz I had. I drank it last December. The one before that was the '07 Duval Entity Shiraz in 2011. And the one before that was the '05 Duval Entity Shiraz in 2009.
Coincidence, mine was 1996 Henschke Mt Edelstone on the weekend. It was also very, very nice.
Cheers,
Blair
Can’t even remember that far back. Last syrah was a Ogier Cote Rotie at Paul Bert in Paris, I think. I still have 2-3 bottles of Mitolo in the cellar. Maybe they need to be given away

2000 Wolf Blass Black Label - Australia, South Australia (7/26/2013)
Dropped into a decanter and consumed over the next three hours. Gritty, lots of sediment. Nose shows a lot of dark, rich fruit, black olive and menthol. On the palate rich, ripe currant (not stewed), tea and some forrest floor. Tannins are completely integrated. Drinking really well.
1998 Dutschke Oscar Semmler Shiraz. I rarely drink Oz shiraz but have always liked this one. Still has good fruit (but not jammy) and balance.
Cheers,
Hal
It’s just out of favor with a lot of the wine cognoscenti. The shorthand, I think, is that it all became thick, sweet, oak juice in a chase for points from the big dogs. And that just doesn’t suit a lot of palates these days.
It’s a big continent, though, and lots of people will tell you it’s actually a very diverse scene. I’ve seen a few threads on the topic here.
For what it’s worth, I can’t remember the last one I had, but am open minded about it.
A 2003 Two Hands Angel’s Share - okay.
I was considering buying a few nice bottles of two hands.
