We all should! Everything I had so far (Thymiopoulos, Alpha Estate, Malihin … ) was at least good.
+1 re the Alpha Estate Rose, enjoyed with friends from Greece
Chateau Aqueria
Drinking it too cold is like eating a watermelon straight out of the fridge. Too warm and you fell the 14%. At the right temperature a proper Tavel, with weight and depth.
And one of current favorites
Goumas - Zefyros Augustiatis Rose 2022
Something for rare varietal hunters: Avgoustiatis. Depending where you look, either no skin contact with the color coming from the fruit pulp, or from smoking of the grapes, or something else altogether …
Either way, a fine serious wine. A pretty floral nose, juicy fruit, invigorating acidity, lasting finish. Certainly worth repeating.
2024 Domaine de la Mordorée Tavel La Dame Rousse
Opened by a friend poolside. 60% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 15% Syrah and 10% Claudette. Dark pink red color. Although a decent wine this was disappointing since the 2023 vintage of this wine was my favorite Rose’ last year. This wine had a little funkiness to it. Notes of raspberries and rose petals. 87 points.

How was it drinking. I have 1 left in the cellar.

2023 Elouan Rosé
Made from Pinot Noir. A very nice but not overly complex bottle. Floral and strawberry notes. 87 points.

Not Chris, but the '19 is in a really nice spot. It’s moving into the secondary zone, having shed some fruit and become more savory, but isn’t “fully mature” yet. Which is to say, you can still pour it for folks who don’t drink a lot of aged rosé and they’ll enjoy it, but it will be wildly different from what they are used to. In a few years, maybe less so (though I like Clos Cibonne Vignettes when it’s become very savory, so use that as a data point). According to CT, I have three left, and will probably drink one next summer and one the year after that (and the third? sometime well past that).
Thanks for the thoughts, Saul. i have a mag of the '19 and a 750 of the '18 and was wondering an optimal time for each. For my tastes, sounds like the '18 this fall and then the mag next summer possibly!
Let me know if you need any help with that mag ![]()
Really nice. But while it is praised for being age worthy, I still like it with some youthful freshness.
Next time I come down to visit Dale, I’ll bring it and we will come see you!
2024 Domaine La Genestière Tavel
Opened poolside. A blend of Grenache and Syrah given 24-48 hours of skin contact. Served chilled. Deep reddish pink color. Fuller bodied for a Rose’. Notes of bing cherries and spiced red fruit. Very solid core of fruit. Well rounded finish. 90 points.

Totally love the Pope Valley fruit for the Bluford rosé. A little more color and extraction makes it great for food.
A very pleasant everyday Italian rosé for me today. Various vintages of this seem to be widely available in the USA for ~US$14-19
- 2023 Tormaresca Calafuria - Italy, Puglia, Salento IGT (10/10/2025)
Strawberry and peach on the slightly sweet nose. But the palate is crisper than the nose might imply: ripe cranberries, a little more of that peach, but refreshing acidity, and just the tiniest hint of spritz on the tongue. The finish is clean, slightly drying and rather more-ish.
For the ~US$20 that I paid this is a decent value and versatile rosé. For the CAV of ~US$16 it would be a big repeat buy.
The Calafuria has shown up in at least some CA Grocery Outlet locations for $4.99. My wife and I have gone through a few this year, and it would have been more if we’d had a hotter summer. The acidity has been a little elevated on one or two, but even so, your description rings true and we’ve enjoyed it.
2021 Andremily Rose with sushi tonight - can’t keep my hands off this stuff, so good!
A perfectly adequate Bandol for 15 Eur.
Actually preferred over Tempier 2024 (weaker than recent vintages imho) and a disappointing Begude 2023.
Another recent highlight: La Suffrene Tradition 2024.
2024 Caves d’Esclans Whispering Angel
Ordered a glass at a restaurant. A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle, Vermentino, Syrah and Tibouren. Very pale pink color. A littlle bit of spice with rose and raspberry notes. On the lighter side. 87 points.
