I feel like every time a Dandelion has no mouse an angel gets its wings.
Total juice box with a nose of cured meats, minerals & some violets.
Everyone should visit Caroline and Hank.
Found a restaurant in Venice that had all his cuvees at retail price. Gonna empty their stock when I go back in a few weeks… Good wines
2021 Domaine Prieuré Roc Clos des Corvées - Enjoyed at Gigi’s the new Roast Chicken restaurant from the Fulgrances team. This wine reminded me of a tasting menu from an ambitious young chef where every third dish is stunning but the two in between just don’t work. It had extremely high highs! But at times it was also just a little boring. When it worked it had soaring aromatics and laser precision fruit. When it didn’t it just seems a little shrill and closed. I felt is required maximum attention. I wished I had just ordered a gulpable wine that allowed me to focus on the food.
My favorite wine that Hank produced. His wines have always been some of my favorite CA natural wines. It is a great visit!
Started off super crushable, maybe a bit of watermelon, and a touch of spritz.
With air it became a little more dark and serious and after an hour started to have a tickle of mouse on the back.
that is unfortunate, i have kept a 2010 julien open for 48 hours before with no sign of mouse. the reduction on that wine was quite severe tho. 2014 in jura was affected by the invasive suzukii fruit fly from what i recall. the plein sud trousseau was definitely on the dilute side that vintage.
- 2009 Philippe Pacalet Nuits-Saint-Georges - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges (3/29/2026)
Very nice floral aromatics on the nose. A clean natural style on the palate with interesting herbal, forest floor, and stemmy flavors layered over the dark red fruit. Quite fresh with nice minerality and good tension. Had this blind and guessed a natural Pinot Noir from the Jura or Burgundy. However, this does seem a little advanced for a 2009; still enjoyable and drinkable, but I don't think there is much upside on holding any longer.

There seem to be quite a bit of bottle variation on Pacalet. I had a few wines this year. Same cuvées, same vintages, different results in how advanced they was.
I really need to find a way to try these ![]()
Fits pretty well with your Bruyeres description. I like it. At 35€ this was a good purchase and something I would buy again, but it does not have the edge and intensity of the best Jura out there. Still a nice first vintage. I also have a bottle of the 2022 Villette cuvée.
And color looks very similar. No for sure. Doesn’t stand head to toe with a Marnes Blanches Extended elevage here I think? Which is nearly at the same price. Or Corvees from Tournelle.
But yes very commendable first try.
*Edit— Could be fun to try up against the similar lieu dit bottlings from Tissot.
It is a bit different to Marnes Blanches because of its more reductive nature, which I like. So just happy to own both ![]()
Patrick Corbineau - Helices 2016
Very effervescent upon opening, so it got burped off.
Beautiful spicy nose of shiso, ripe orchard fruit, hot gravel, and some honey. Very intense and interesting wine underneath, but it’s marred by mousiness.
Really unfortunate as I was looking forward to it a lot.
He died last year, and I don’t know what happened to his fields. He made one of the most beautiful Cab Francs in the area.
The most beautiful for me.
Agreed! Had this recently over the course of a few days and each day it was beautiful.
Very oxidative nose, palate was the contrast with freshness and tons of extract.
Very good, but not quite what I was hoping for.
2016 Chat Fou Eric Texier
Unfortunately slightly corked but this has developed and kept up very well - delicious . Most enjoyable the first night when intensity of the wine over powered the corkiness.
Despite being corked it showed better than the below wine…
2020 Prima l’Angelore
With @MadsW hinting at drink up for the 2020 vintage of l’Anglore I popped this bottle. Like Mads I bought this at a similar favorable price. Felt that this was underwhelming, expected a lot more. Was rather lacking in focus, tension and complexity. Nothing faulty or wrong really.
