Glad I am just ok with CT inventory. Found a 2002 Phelps Insignia that wasn’t in inventory. Felt like I won the lottery.
Found a magnum of 1996 Bollinger Grand Annee.
Couldn’t even remember buying it.
That was nice.
I lost a 95 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St Vivant and I know it wasn’t consumed yet. I will be happy one day when I find it. (it’s been missing for 3-4 years)
I am good at entering wines but not so good at removing them when I drink them. Since stocking the new cellar in the last couple of weeks, I have deleted about ten wines that I presume I drank. I have added none.
One bottle of 1993 Armand Rousseau Clos de Beze. I thought only left with '93 Chambertin. What a pleasant surprise!
375 of 90 Yquem
'78 Ch. Pavie. Mid-shoulder, and unfortunately a bit past its sell-by date.
94 Chave. I knew I had it, just couldn’t find it.
95 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St Vivant.
Found it about 3-4 years ago.
About 2 months ago I went looking for a 1996 Olga Raffault Chinon in my inventory. It (along with a few other bottles) wasn’t in that case but the case did contain
1 1997 Olga Raffault Chinon Blanc which I had been looking for for years
2 1994 Allemand Reynard Cornas which I thought I must have drunk up years ago
1 1997 Huet Moelleux CdB 1er Trie (375)
I now only know of one missing bottle (a 1971 Les Forts de Latour).
but you have never been invited over
+1
Unfortunately, more often than not, my surprises go the other direction.
Not really looking for, but found for Thanksgiving a bottle of cabernet given to me from Mount Palomar (1983). Lots of different cellars and time, but it was really lovely. Mature with refined tannins and gentle cedar/cigar notes. Not a cab aficionado, but went beautifully with turkey. Even the next day it held together well. Mike
2003 Felsina Fontalloro
Not really found because I never bought it. Must have been mixed with 2004s. Great wine experience though and has me rethinking my blanket aversion to warm vintages.
I found 3 bottles of Corton Charlemagne in my Envoyer box that I didn’t remember ordering!
