What is YOUR most recent wine purchase? (Part 2)

Look at this guy, coming for our Ganevat and Labet!

I wouldn’t be too worried  I usually buy where my knowledge is. And thats definitely no the Jura

I’ve never had his Jura whites. How do they compare with his Burgundy?

About the same, both kinda overpriced and kinda underwhelming.

Driven by acidity and a mineral spine. Had this very delicious reductive palate. I find them better than his Bourgogne Blanc (eclat de calcaire) but perhaps not as good as his village lieu-dit wines

Hey, only “kinda” overpriced and underwhelming is high praise in the world of Burgundy!

I will admit that he has a keen business sense and like many of the young generation is eschewing the traditional model of selling your wine dirt cheap so a bunch of middlemen can get rich marking it up. But the prices are fair considering the market and the quality is only getting better each year.

What he’s doing in Jura is again more about business sense a la Conterno with Nervi, but the wines are excellent. Maybe $50 is a lot for Jura white, but the Noyer was one of the standouts of his entire '24 lineup. It was served blind by accident and people thought it was Meursault 1er.

Honestly that says more about his 1ers, than the Noyer… had it with him at Paulee in Copenhagen last year - absolutely terrible wine in my view… long live the hype machine

I don’t drink nearly enough Jura to comment on how good of a Jura wine it is - But the Saugettes 23’ I had recently was excellent for sure. It was easily as good as village burgundy from many great producers. It was a more sharp wine than a Leflaive 2016 1er Clavoillon I had recently, although comparisons can be ugly

I don’t drink Jura at all, and maybe that is why I didn’t like it. For me it had no resemblance what so ever to white burgundy, which I drink a lot of. Could be the vintage, or the particular day - or simply my yak palate - who knows =)
