Just delivered . . .

3 bottles of 2001 Müller Catoir Burgengarten Spätlese

Had this last year and it came out on top of a crowded field of 18 rieslings, almost all excellent.

Color is much lighter than the background of cherry wood suggests. Nice to add them to my stock of 2001 Suduiraut and Reiussec

Gotcha. Hard to give much meaningful insight about any big hitters, because most of the Aligotés I’ve had have been just lowly basic Aligotés from the $20-30 range.

Probably the best I can think of right off the bat would be Ponsot’s Monts Luisants with +10 years of age.

Apart from that, I’d recommend combing through my Aligoté studies and cherry pick the best-performing labels.

Stopped by the Goodfellow Open House and picked up a few things:

12 x 2019 Willamette Valley Chardonnay (M&M found this in storage and held it for me)
12 x 2023 Willamette Valley Chardonnay
4 x Willamette Valley Brut
2 x Temperance Hill Blanc des Blancs

It was fun to see Winston getting his first exposure to selling wine…

I just got a bottle of 2005 Dujac Fils & Pere Nuits Saint Georges Aux Thorey…

I can’t find much info on this, but I know it’s purchased fruit, and it seems like they only made wine from this vineyard for the 2005 vintage. Does anyone know anything about this or why it was only made for 1 vintage?

Saw that on Winebid! From Vinous:

“Incidentally, these vines were part of the Thomas-Moillard purchase by Domaines Dujac and de Montille. As this was the only vintage made by Dujac, the wine will be released under the negociant label. Following 2005, this holding went to de Montille, who in turn gave a piece of it to Domain Cathiard in exchange for giving up his lease early on a piece of Vosne-Romanee Les Malconsorts that was also part of the Thomas-Moillard portfolio.”

Very interesting. This was exactly the kind of info I was looking for.

So, technically, it’s domaine fruit… that they loved so much they sold it immediately:) interested to try it out regardless.

jealous of everyone showing received purchases. My delivery window is end of December or early January.

K&L? There was a second lot of 3 and I spaced on bidding. They went for crazy low too, like $210 for the lot

I cannot recall I think a bit more but still a steal. I had missed a prior lot out of carelessness.

My bounty from a recent trip in Italy. The prices IMO, although not absolute cellar prices (except for the Burlotto), were pretty good. Selosse was €400.00 ea., Lurquin €250.00, Ledru €170.00, Jules Brochet €100.00 and Burlotto was €70.00 ea. (purchased at the winery).

I’d legitimately save so much money on my wishlist/shopping list if I just flew to Paris and back.

Actually… Why am I not in France right now? Why do I have to be home :joy:
