The 1976 of this wine, probably drunk in the mid or late 90’s, is the best wine I’ve had the privilege of drinking.

Thanks for the note. This was a total impulse buy. I’ve never had it in any vintage, and it seems to be a very rare bird. But (1) I love and am always on the lookout for 01 Germans; (2) I prefer German sweet wines to any others, yet I have few of them; and (3) I was able to snipe it for the auction minimum. Will be fun regardless – cheers!
I suspect you paid a bit more than I did. I was told that a physician was scamming Medicare; he was caught and had to liquidate half of his wine collection (at Red Carpet, in Glendale). I think I bought nine bottles of various wines for $1,100, but at $250 the Haag TBA (full bottle) was beyond my reach. Fortunately, a friend of mine agreed to pay half, and while my memory sucks these days, I still remember drinking it with him, our wives, and two friends at Shiro in South Pasadena.
I hope your wine will be as memorable, and you’ll be reminiscing 30 or 40 years from now.

One of our most consistently enjoyable white wines that we like to have on hand.
Good vintage IMO and very good price of $28.97 at my local Total Wine.
( I seem to buy a lot of our wines in twos. I have forgotten the rationale for it.
