What is YOUR most recent wine purchase? (Part 2)

Two.\bottles.
2021 Cobden-Willi Old Federal Vineyard Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (from the UC Davis To-Kalon block).
2015 A.D. Coutelas Brut Champagne

For $105/bottle this seems like good value, have you had Cobden before?

I have not had Cobden, but the vintage, the vineyard, the price (I paid $80) and the few Cobden tasting notes I found online convinced me.

I haven’t opened any myself, but I’d expect them to be drinkable, though likely past their peak. The 1977 vintage was moderately good, but it lacked the density of 1975 or 1982. If I were born in 1977, I’d pick up bottles from top producers when available and enjoy them over the next few years. However, I’d focus most of my budget on Port and Piedmont, followed by Rioja or Napa.

Why right bank over left bank? Asking as someone born in 1978.

Birth year wine for me, so please leave a note :wine_glass:

We drank a couple of 1991s recently, showed so great!

Ah amazing, stoked for you! Had a(3 bottles) 1997 Lafoy last year which was unfortunately 5 years past, despite them having good provenance(cellar of Michel Bonnefond).

I take it back, and will edit the post. I doubt anything from Bordeaux 1977 would be worth buying or cellaring. '78 might be good if you find La Mission and other Left Banks, but still past prime. Take it with a grain of tannin; I’m no Bdx expert

1991 may be my favorite vintage ever for the west bank appellations of the Northern RhƓne. So many extraordinary wines, with Gentaz, Gallet, Jamet, and Ogier leading the pack for me.

These are a lot of fun. I popped in 1939 Rivesaltes for my mom’s 80th birthday, it was quite the hit

I agree. I’ve amassed a collection of Rivesaltes and Maury from the 1930s and 1940s. I’m gifting a 1935 to one of my patients, who plans to open it for her brother’s 90th birthday later this year. He’s reportedly a wine collector, so I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.

Too bad about the 1997s. I bought a lot of 4 bottles of 1994 Lafoy/Gasse four years ago and drank through them. They were uneven but the best were very savory, pungent, super fragrant umami bombs.

Some recent posts about older Tempier inspired me to pick up some youngish ones at auction:

2x 2019 La Migoua
2x 2017 La Tourtine
3x 2016 La Migoua

And a bonus two bottles of 2016 Fontalloro.
