If you’re only going to have one, that is a great choice!
2015-2020 Goodfellow Whistling Ridge Blanc Field Blend. C’mon, how cool is that?
Mine’s a work in progress, but 2011-present (purchased, not yet on site, as it is futures) Ridge Monte Bello
If by verticals, you mean every vintage, I really don’t have any.
commercial post:
I import Pegau, I have 21 vintages from between 1989 - 2017.
non-commercial post:
I have 12 vintages of Chateau Lanessan from 1966 - 2015.
Dan Kravitz
You have more willpower than I do! I can’t resist drinking the field blend.
Well he parted with a near perfect ‘47 Cheval-Blanc as well so maybe he had some personal reasons for moving in the first place.
Life can throw you some serious curveballs.
I probably have two 8-10 year verticals. Not very impressive, I know. Ridge and Turley, both zinfandels.
Fun thread.
Far and away the leader – Pegau Reservee (back to 2001 and loaded up on 2015-2017): 200+
A distant second – Rhys Pinot Noir (various bottlings back to late 2000s): 100+
Influenced by a close friend and mentor.
Few large vertical buys otherwise… but those de Negoce horizontals are taking up space!
De Négoce OG N.17. Every single vintage.
On a more serious note 16 vintages of Vieux Telegraphe. 1998-2016, with 1999 & 2000 drunk up. And missing 2002, just like everyone else.
Down to 15 vintages of VT after drinking up the 2003 earlier this year. Plan to hopefully prune it more on my birthday on June 5 with a bunch of vaccinated people.
And still have every single vintage of De Négoce OG N.17.
We’re not really focused on verticals per se, but…
Coutet 10 vintages to 1921
Rayne Vigneau 10 vintages to 1904
Climens 8 vintages to 1962
Drinkward Peschon 10 vintages to 2005
And lots of Carlisle…
Resuscitating this thread
Monte Bello, every year back to 1986, plus 77 and 80.
Clape Cornas 2010-2021
Guillaume Gilles Cornas 2009-2021
Levet Chavaroche and Journaries 2007-2021
Gonon 2011-2021
Musar 1998-present
Le Pergole Torte 2011-present
Thomas 2011-present
Dozens of verticals of 5-10 vintages but many have some gaps.
Of wines with over 12 vintages:
Chave Hermitage 20
Cappellano Pie Franco 20
Bartolo Mascarello Barolo 20
Cappellano Pie Rupestris 19
G Rinaldi Brunate (Brunate- le Coste) 19
Burlotto Monvigliero 17
Chevillon Vaucrains 17
PdB Rabaja 17
G Rinaldi Tre Tine (CSL-R) 16
Chave Hermitage Blanc 15
Conterno Francia (Cascina Francia) 15
Gonon St Joseph 14
G Mascarello Monprivato 14
PdB Montestefano 14
Vajra Bricco della Viole 14
Burlotto Cannubi 13
M Gibourg Feussellottes 13
M Gibourg Echezeaux 13
LMHB 13
Levet Chavaroche 13
PdB Montefico 13
JJ Prum WS GKA 13
Cogno Barolo Vigna Elena 13
M Gibourg Chaignots 12
Leoville Barton 12
PdB Paje 12
Roagna Paje 12
I’ve stopped buying many of these so I suspect it will continue to shift over time. Most of my favorite Burgs have fallen off the list due to prices and or my ability to source them, no Chave since 2016. Realistically, I should really stop buying Barolo as where I want to drink them along the maturity curve is passing where i will be on my maturity curve.
Fun exercise.
A friend of mine has Screaming Eagle back to 1997. I don’t think he has opened more than 5 of them. Reminds me if the scene in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels where Michael Caine says about his wine cellar, he doesn’t drink them because they are too valuable and won’t sell them because they are too precious.
My wine purchasing has slowed considerably for the last 15 years approximately but I still have many vintages of some favorites although not totally consecutive vintages, mostly pre 2005. Some of the following with 12 or more vintages include:
Gruaud Larose 13
Pichon Lalande 14
Leoville Las Cases 14
Heitz Martha’s Vineyard 17
Ridge Monte Bello 16
Laurel Glen 14
Forman 17
Montellena 27
Quilceda Creek 21, since 1996
Vieux Telegraphe 14
Beaucastel 12
Charvin 15, since 1998
And loads of Carlisle since 2003.
