I always finish with a little Chartreuse or Amaro.
Yes! I knew I was not alone.
If sensible, water, if not, more wine, mostly red - âjust one more glassâ, which tends to result in me finding a near empty bottle in the fridge the next morningâŚ
All you people replying either, âI never drink too muchâŚâ, âWaterâŚâ Not the thread for you.
I usually go and grab a low alcohol white of some sort which often relates to refreshing acidity. Rarely Champagne, not sure why, as I would think it would it would fit the bill nicely. I also really enjoy a good Bourbon as a cap to a fine evening.
If I have already had a lot to drink but I donât want the evening to end, I will usually grab a bottle that if we donât finish, I wouldnât be too upset about the next morning.
Agreed. Poor word choice on my part. I normally just pop an Elio Sandri Dolcetto dâAlba that I get from Thatcherâs for $19
In past times (say a few years ago), it would have been something like a Petite Sirah. We had a tradition, well I did when I held events, to open one at the end of the evening to cap things off. However, my age has taken me over and I just canât do the alcs anymore. And, to a large degree, so too canât those who are at the table with me!
There should be a Lurker of the Year Award or Lurker Hall of Fame. Letâs celebrate those who lurk.
Now thatâs a superb wine! And outstanding value as well. (Iâm reserving all my bottles to be paired with pizza, though. )
Usually the cheapest thing i can find in the easily accessible wine fridge. at that point nobody cares what it is as long as it comes out of a wine bottle and looks like wine.
Until recently, it would have been Chartreuse, Drambuie or some amaro.
Now? A liter of coconut water, a tab of aspirin, then off to bed.
The three words that best describe you are as follows, and I quote: drink, drank, drunk!
decaf espresso
I used to sell German wine.
I vividly but hazily remember a night in the Rheingau when I was invited to a cellar crawl. A grower I represented drove me (I could not have done it).
We started in a neighborâs cellar with a Kabinett, proceeded to another for a Spatlese, back to my grower for an Auslese, next cellar a Beerenauslese. After a short pause, we went a few more miles for a Trockenbeerenauslese.
Sips. Reverence.
Then one of the growers yelled âRepair wine!â. Back to his place for a QbA Trocken.
In the winter, single malt scotch or, in the Rhone, marc de chateauneuf or gigondas. In the summer, it is one of the few times I love a cold glass of beer. Itâs like having iced fizzy water or, as with Alfert, Champagne, which I also do to end new years.
He told me you can drink a whole bottle of Riesling yourself at lunch and still drive back to the office and finish your work day.
Welcome freakinâ back, @Vito_D !
Bourbon or grappa.
Well when the drinking is really on the move is to reach for whichever bottle is closest to me. Hopefully I can open it without incident.
Water is for fishes!!!
Should Wineberserkers try to attract more lurkers? Are we too intimidating for Those Who Peek?
