What de Négoce wine are you drinking tonight?

Concur. Went through my two cases WAY too quickly and regret not holding any back. Stupid good for a daily drinker (which is what I used it for) - should have purchased 5 cases at that blowout price…

Agreed!

I did show some rare good judgement. After drinking 6 too soon, I realized it was too soon. :face_with_monocle: ? So I marked the remaining 2 cases to hold for a while 9/24. Extra Incredible improvement! Down to 8 bottles, I do like them now, in no hurry. They should last quite awhile! :wine_glass::wine_glass:

OG Lot 158 2018 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

3/6, PnP. ~5 years bottled. For me, this is one of the better Alexander Valley Cab’s.

Flavorful & Complex. :wine_glass::wine_glass: Drinking fine now, could age longer. Was fine on day 2! *with Beef Ribs*

Couldn’t agree more. It’s too good, even at that price, to be a cellar defender. That’s what N.100 and 240 are for, lol.

Lot 214 2020 Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir

4.5 years in the bottle, ~10/24, PnP.

This pours dark, rich and full bodied, deep dark red fruits on the nose. Lots of Oak and complex berries on the palate. The firm acidity balances the sweet fruitiness perfectly. A solid :wine_glass::wine_glass:double Yum.

Day 2&3&4, amazed me, it held up extra beautifully, only showing its age on Day 4. This should become even more complex with additional aging. *with Salmon*

Scott, you mean Lot 214 Grenache?

  • 2020 de Négoce Pinot Noir OG N.214 - USA, California, Sonoma County, Petaluma Gap (1/14/2025)
Yep, just like other reviews here say, this is very Grenache-like. To the point where I enjoy it more when I ignore any Pinot comparison and just tell myself it is Grenache. Then the alcohol, flavors, and tannin influence make sense. And like others, I did not notice any change in character with aeration.

I’m glad you posted your note and that I still have 4 left. I’ll bet it’s showing more Pinot-like with age. Cheers!

I understand Bob, this 214 is rather Grenache-like. I prefer PN. Not a fan of most of the Rhône varieties, CdP’s are occasionally agreeable to yummy. I vastly prefer the BDX & Burgundian varietals. For decades I was primarily a PN drinker. Now I prefer CS first, PN secondarily. To each their own! The more things you enjoy, the better off you are!* Enjoy :face_blowing_a_kiss::wine_glass::tada:

Thursday evening wine- this Syrah was delightful - again.

  • 2018 de Négoce Syrah OG N.38 - USA, California, Sonoma County (1/22/2026)
Consistent with tasting in November '25:

Popped and poured with sandwiches and Warriors/Mavs game
Nose: Lilac, olive, slight blueberry, white pepper- fantastic presentation.
    Color: Dark see through ruby.
Palate: Gaminess, earth, red & dark berries - almost Pinot like, then darker berries take over reminding you it's a Cote Rotie style Syrah. Tannins present a good grip with medium plus body. Really like this is sub 14% alc. Cameron is correct in stating 8-10 years on this wine. (92 points)

Friday evening dinner- acquired a OG N.02 from Chris’ estate, however, could not locate where I placed it in time for dinner. This lovely Sonoma Cabernet came through beautifully.

  • 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.68 - USA, California, Sonoma County (1/23/2026)
Consistent with last tasting in 2025.

Double decanted 1/2 hour before serving with grilled Tri Tip steak.

Nose: Ripe red plum, touch of licorice/ anise. Sort of medium on aromatics at first.
    Color: Dark Red.
Palate: Started a bit weak at first along with the aromatics. Wine gained fruit and aromatics about 15-20 minutes later during meal. This Cabernet will not knock you over, fairly "gentle" for a mountain Cabernet. What it does have is good mouthfeel and assimilates well with food. Nice red fruit profile on a medium plus length finish. Really enjoyable Sonoma Cabernet.

Another outstanding Cabernet bargain from the original founder of de Negoce: Cameron Hughes.

Catching up. I was a bit under the weather with a mild head cold. It slowed me down, but, didn’t stop me. I find that feeling subpar subtracts from general joy. Subtracting a wines yum or two? It’s great to feel good again! Not shown here is Lot 550 | 2021 Napa Valley Proprietary Red, which is a dud! I can drink it, I don’t enjoy it, I didn’t finish it. A bit of a “Yuck”.

409 is surprisingly very good, especially on day 2. A 2021 & Seems ready now.

64 Calistoga big, a perennial favorite, delicious on days 1&2. 5+ years bottled. :face_savoring_food:

329 a very big controversial Grenache-like, 100% Pinot Noir, 100% Estate fruit 50% new French oak - top artisan cooperage 15.2% alc. 40-50 cases. Very Rich flavors and structure. Goes well with poultry. Drink at will.

We’ll be popping a bottle of the 550 later today – and pouring it directly into the beef stew pot! Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Edit: It’s a “have a lemon, make lemonade” thing. Some earlier iterations (not with 550):

Definitely cooking wine… and the most expensive cooking wine I’ve ever bought :expressionless_face:.

HA? Ditto here, expensive cooking wine. Beautiful Beef Stew Bert, good for game day, (go Rams)! Lucky me, I got 2 cases, because the offers write up was such beautiful BS!

#550 is NOT as good as advertised! :smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear:

Something happened here. A wine that was beautiful a couple of years ago is now absolutely flat. I don't know how to describe it, other than the energy and verve seems...gone. Wines go through a dumb phase sometimes, but many other DN 2018's are drinking beautifully today. I don't know what happened here.

So sad about 550. I also bought but haven’t popped any. Any chance time will help it turn the corner or is it a dud all around? Reminds me how I felt about the Tempranillo…N.106 I think.

But Cameron gave me a complete refund after the third year for the truly disappointing Lot 106 Tempranillo!

  • 2021 de Négoce Pinot Noir OG N.372 - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley (1/24/2026)
Double decanted with some grilled pork chops, smashed potatoes.

Nose: Hibiscus, wild strawberry mixed with black tea and spice.
    Color: See through Ruby
Palate: Follow through of wild strawberry, integrated tannins, juicy acidity, on a LONG finish. A hint of spice and black pepper. Very enjoyable Santa Maria Pinot. Plenty life ahead here. (93 points)

Lot 550 is the lot that has kept me from buying anymore from them. I get that some wines may not be to my liking but the description of this wine compared to what is in the bottle is not even close. They should have never shipped this product in my opinion.
