Shall do! ![]()
One of my favorite dNs. I’m afraid to count how many I have left, but I’m sure Tim has more. Just delicious last time I opened one.
N.28 mountain cab. Wow- we have come a long way together. Pop em if you got em. Sooo aromatic. lots of smooth tannins and dark fruit, you just want to swish around your mouth, leave it there for while and enjoy. Looking forward to the second half of this bottle tonight.
93pts
“N.28 is the second of three hillside vineyard release all from the same producer. The common thread here is hillside vineyards at elevation in the Vaca Mountain range. Each wine is elegantly structured and beautifully delineated with a strong sense of place. Clearly these are expertly made with a deft hand. My favorite part is the gorgeously perfumed aromatics. 60-70% new French oak, 14.8% alc. Bottled July 21st. Originally priced between $100/ and $150/bottle, now $18/bottle equivalent. N.28 Napa Cabernet is sourced from a hillside vineyard just north of Pritchard Hill above Lake Hennessy. Expressive layers bright and vibrant on the palate violets, anise, bing cherry, plum, kiss of brett, leather upholstery and fine french oak finished tannin. Darker fruit and bit more muscle on the palate than N.27, this wine finishes long and rich. 300 cases available”
You’re more optimistic than I am on 501…have had two bottles, one on delivery, one the last week or so. So far kind of a meh. Definitely will hang on for a while before opening another to see how these develop.
Frankly, I’m not very optimistic or impressed about 501.
It’s okay,/fine, hopefully it will get better. Probably will???![]()

Lot 450 | 2022 Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
2/12, PnP. 1.5 years bottled. This moderate bodied 2022 seems ready already.
Can age more, no hurry.
with leftover Pot Roast
Mark,
Purchased 2 cases, split one with a friend - so out of original 18, down to 15, soon to be 14 as I will swap one with Scott Boyd at our next meeting in King City at Lugarcitos.
Note: my friend takes these de Negoce wines and has a “serve before Tuesday” in his mind when he gets them. We’ll get together and I’ll reshare with him what I know we split years ago. And he’s glad I have that cellar large enough to store these wines. And yes, his mouth drops open when re-tastes this big Cabernet wines.
Cheers, Tim
Hey everybody, Tim is the BEST!!! He’s a Triple yum ![]()

- 2019 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.232 - USA, California, Napa Valley (10/28/2025)
Still continues to improve a bit. Beautiful, more powdery tannins emerging. Great on it's own or with food.
Update on n.232. Really excellent juice.
Lot 600 released, seems will be a keeper for a long time.
468 Howell Mountain Cab
A true Shiner from Robert Craig ( on the cork )
And, it’s very very good!
Now that #600 is available it may be a good time to share notes from #300 and #400 that we had in the last few days:
#400 (2020 Oakville): faint nose, rich taste, somehow disjointed, I did not detect any smoke taint, does not seem ready yet, let’s try again in a year or two
#300 (2019 Howell Mountain): nuanced nose, well integrated, rich fleshy taste, long after taste, very good and likely to get better over time. This is probably the most expensive de Negoce wine I ever bought at $39. It might just be worth it!
I also had two “budget Cabs” recently, Lots 145 (2018 Napa) and 447 (2022 Lake County), both at $12/bottle. Both were really nice, huge QPR. #145 has already evolved exhibiting leather and earthy flavors, very balanced and good length. #447 continues to surprise me in how approachable it is. Very pleasant and yet also rich and nuanced.
I have all those lots and allign with your assessment.
No. 49, 2018 Alexander Valley Cab - agree with the cellartracker reviews, nice, balanced, but somewhat simple, upper 80s is about right.
Lot 518 2023 Napa Valley Malbec
Happy 1st birthday, one year bottled. 1/6, PnP.
Maybe too soon? This is totally enjoyable currently!
Medium bodied with mainly bright red fruits. Complex enough to be interesting. Refreshingly delicious, yummy ![]()
with grilled Game Hen (spatchcocked)
Scott - I was planning on opening a lot 59 ($35) soon, but maybe 64 ($26) is a better choice? I’m concerned that 59 may be too young still as I only have 3.
Norm,
Shucks, I never got any #59….Mt. Veeder ‘18.
I have thoroughly enjoyed 28 bottles of #64, with 8 remaining.
You can certainly enjoy OG N.64 2018 Calistoga “Hillside” Cabernet, now, PnP, anytime. ![]()

At $35, lot 59 was at the high end of what I’ve paid for dN wine so I can see why you didn’t buy any. I think I only paid more for lot 300. Don’t know how I ended up with 3 though; maybe a mystery case.
When I went to check my dN stock, I found my lot 64 buried on the bottom layer so probably won’t get to it for a few months. Thanks for the tip.
- 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.244 - USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley (11/2/2025)
No change in a couple of years. This is still a racy, red-fruited wine, classically styled with structure galore. It requires a long decant. It will cellar for a long time.
Surprised that this one hasn’t changed much. But the good news is, this is one to hold onto and I think patience will be rewarded.
